Hi folks =]

I'm a 1/2-2/5 NL and low limit tourney semi reg. I played here and there last year, but I decided to make more of a commitment to poker outside of my normal job in 2016, and I've been quite successful. The "problem" is now I'm sitting on this huge pile of cash in my apartment. What do you guys do with your winnings? How often do you "cash out your bankroll" into your bank account? The casino charges $3-4 for withdrawals at their ATM, and it's such a hassle to go to the bank every other time I want to play poker. How much of your poker roll do you keep in cash on you, and how much do you transfer into your accounts? I know some of you probably play in different limits than me, so you can answer in percentage of your total roll or in # of buy ins or whatever.

Also, I'm positive that there's a thread on this somewhere, but I changed my address a few times in the past few years, and I'm worried that the casino may have sent me a 1099 that I never received. How worried do I need to be about taxes? Poker is something I do 8-15 hours a week as I'm a teacher, and grading is literally the biggest time-suck in the world.

I keep roughly 7 to 10 buyins in cash in my home. Rest goes in the bank.

Makes sense. Thanks!

When i had this problem I kept 10 BI hidden in my house. The rest I put in a safe deposit box. It's easy to get at, and keeps the IRS from looking at your transactions. Not that I'm advocating hiding income, but if you can avoid an audit, then you should because they are a pain in the ass.

Yeah, tax is not an issue for me as I play recreationally in Australia. So my solution is convenient if you don't mind creating bank records and of course, if you're OK taking the risk of having cash in your home.

Install a fake electrical outlet and store your roll in that.

Exactly this. You only need to be depositing what you claim you make on your taxes.

Meh. That's nothing.

I'm at $2,431 over my last 13.5 hours (Saturday and Sunday night).

I'm currently projecting to $300,000 over the next 52 weeks.

Sustainable?

Very Nice. I am glad to see someone beating for more than 20bb/hr. It is not just me, although I am probably running hot. Lol. I will start doing the same every 100th hour.

Keep up the good run!

I keep about 10-15 BI in cash at "home". I often have a good chunk on it in my pocket as I don't know which days I'm going to get out of work a little early and have time to play. Otherwise it's distributed between a hollowed out copy of supersystem, a picture frame, and a VHS copy of Caro's Tells.

Mostly I take money out to pay for stuff. I transfer any bills beyond an even hundred to my walking around roll (as in, cash out for $425, $400 into the poker roll, $25 into the life roll) that I use to buy food and other stuff day-to-day.

Tend to take money out to pay for other larger expenses too. $1000 for a headgasket job? My mechanic takes cash. $200 for new skates? Cash.

Very rarely deposit cash. Usually one big chunk and that's it for months. I'd hate to have to go back and forth to the bank or ATM every time I played.

+$600 last session at the table, blew it at the strip club on the way home. Net $0 day isn't too bad ... right?

Every once in a while it just has to be done.

How much are you paying for a safe deposit box in our town? Should really get one for birth certificate type documents rather than leaving them in a drawer.

Very good chance they aren't. Don't be too jelly of others, their results might not be achievable in your environment.
