SD seems about +-5bb for someone around crushing hourly.

Number seems fine to me in live.

Agreed - nothing unusual about that stdev. In fact, it is smaller than lots of others IMO.

Standard deviation per hour should be incredibly high if you think about it, and the fact that it's that high means probably very little.

I mean, here's how I approach it. Let's say you're a 10bb/hr winner at 2/5, or $50/hr. A low standard deviation would imply that in a typical hour you would grind up your stack by $40-60 or something, and very rarely would you ever win or lose a big pot to create an "outlier" hour.

We all know that the exact opposite is true. In a typical hour, we might bleed a few chips away; we might win a massive pot; we might lose a big pot. Very, very rarely will we be close to our average winrate in a typical hour. The average is averaged over big swings. A high standard deviation is completely to be expected.

Showdown multi-way preflop poker = higher stdev and higher WR... don't compare to online.

My SD over 932 hours of $1/2 is 120bb/hour and 240bb/session, at 302 hours of $2/5 is 85bb/hour and 140bb/session.

Guy also made a math mistake.

If you want to scale stdev - multiply is by the square root of the scaling factor.

My wine rate at $2/5 this year is $95.50/hr. any tips on how to push it up over $100/hr so I can quit my 6 figure job to play pro poker?

Might as well buy a tent. It is much cheaper.

Already have a tent. Could just sleep in the west slots if that's the route we're taking.

Here are some stats from two rooms. Tell me if they mean anything to you

Room 1: 64 sessions. $7600 profit. 374 hours. A little over $20 per hour profit. 95 Percent of play at 1/3.

Room 2: 14 sessions. 92 hours. 3800 profit.
38/hr at all 1/2.

Lol sample size. But am I really better off at room 2?

Again with the sample size on room 2.

How old is the sample size on room 1?

Might just be you improving.

I don't think we can draw any conclusions from these samples. Do you see more gross chit happen at 1 or 2? What about expenses? Gas/tolls/time/rake/tips?

Chip, that 1-3 game has more nitty regs that nut peddle and play super tight than I have ever seen! It just sucks that it is the closest option for me now. It is the weirdest LLSNL game I have ever played in!

Depends on the rake. I am sure you can do well in the game but the rake may kill your winrate. 25 NL at Bovada may take a long time to grind up to what you want and being limited to only 4 tables will be frustrating. I would stick with unraked home games and Hard Rock has a 100NL game that is super easy to beat. GL

i think you've been stuck in bad games and need to table change more. i had good games friday night; i played horrible saturday night and ran into quads on the one hand.

sitting at that table you were at saturday with seats 7, 8 and 9 is just not profitable.
