I am using poker manager for android.

I tried to search for poker income but couldn't find it.

After using the free version of poker manager for nearly a year they finally made me purchase about a month ago. It just kept "suggesting" that I should purchase pro but I didn't want to pay and figured the free version is good enough.

Finally after a long session one day they wouldn't let me finish my session and kept saying I had to pay. Next day same thing, so I paid the 8.99 or whatever and the pro version is exactly the same as the free version.

It's ok but there has to be something better out there. There are some features I would like to use that they don't offer such as filtering your stats based on specific days, such as Fridays, Monday, etc.

I have poker manager. You can filter by days. I wish it featured the total standard deviation of all your sessions. That would be awesome. Overall I'm happy with it but I do feel poker journal is superior. IOS users run better!

Just came across a relatively new tracking app called poker history. Looks really good. Droid.

^Looks good but after 10 sessions you must purchase the app.

The best free app for Android is Session Logger. IMO

I use poker history. It's pretty nice, but yeah you have to pay $4.99 after 10 sessions. I just paid it without much thought. I read somewhere that it actually holds your data "hostage" if you don't export data before the 10th session. Can't confirm if true because I just paid when it prompted.

That's totally reasonable. I think I paid like 9 or 10 for poker manager? And I don't get the ever so useful standard deviation stat! So many other useful stats are derived from this number (risk of ruin, bankroll reqs, confidence intervals) It's truly sad the developers have left this out when poker journal, poker history, and many others have it.

Poker history does not have the standard deviation stat either as far as I can see..

It looks like the directors from the movie "Tron" developed poker income. This is not a bad thing, I like Tron.

So I haven't put in a lot of time on them but it seems like consensus is poker income > poker manager > poker history +. I just want to pick one up and go with it before I get too deep in data. Any huge differences?

I have used Poker Journal for a few years and like it. Most likely still a free trial version and then can buy the real one and it will have your trial data should you like it.

is it possible to make a living at 1-2nl? ive asked around and it seems pretty doable to make good money at 2-5nl and even easier at 5-10 if you play really well but my question is what if you do full time (like 40hr a week) at 1-2nl ONLY and are very very bankroll conservative and don't plan on moving up to 2-5nl regularly until you have like 100 buyins (or more) to reduce risk of ruin?

is it doable to pull like 40k+ a year at 1-2nl?

It's possible but only for "good" players. Most people good enough move up to $2/5 or higher. Being average isn't even enough to break even because of the rake. Think about how much better you actually have to be relative to the field to make 10+bb/hr

im pretty sure im above average - the average 1-2nl player is a complete drooler at foxwoods ...and ive dabbled a lot lately in 2-5nl but i dont like going thru 4 figure swings with a bankroll under 50k so im gonna wait

Do the math. $20/hr 40 hours a week is $40K a year. Problem is not many people actually play $1/2 full time. I can't speak for your location but at most $1/2 games, a top player should be making $30/hr at least

If you're good enough to kill $1/$2, you should be moving up when your bankroll is big enough.

A bank roll of 50k at 2/5 should be more than enough. I'd say 20k is plenty but what do I know. Also it depends on how juicy the 1/2 live game is. If people are giving away money and don't adjust I'm sure you could do just fine there.

It seems like you could take frequent stabs at 2/5 nl if you are that over rolled for 1/2. You should be challenging yourself every now again, not just playing with complete idiots.

It's theoretically possible yeah but for most people grinding 40 hours/week for every week is not realistic or if someone chooses to they'll be playing a robotic C-game for much of those hours. The limit to start playing poker as a sole income is at 2/5 and that's if you live somewhere with a relatively low cost of living.
