Skimmed the post looking for stakes but didn't think to check at the top

Impressive, curious, we're you involved in any monster pots where you held up or sucked out?

I just ended a 17-1 streak (where the only loss was for $12 over a 12 hour session). Went 7 winning sessions in a row, then the $12 loss session, then followed that up with 10 winning sessions in a row (a personal record).

For this once-a-week recreational player, this streak can seem like a lifetime, as it actually stretched exactly 4 whole months (my last lost before the streak being on October 9, 2012, and then finally ending with a loss on February 9, 2013).

All told over this streak: $12,075 over 194.25 hours = $62.16/hr = 20.72 bb/hr.

Ended it with a rather mundane 78bb loss (most of it coming when I lost a flip in a big pot). Then followed that up with a rather terrible 224bb loss (almost half of that coming when I decided to hero call down with 2nd pair and was horribly wrong on my read).

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Eating like **** right after, session review, a good nights sleep, and a good workout the next morning gets me ready to hit the felt again.

When I have a gf, sex or a good blowjob helps as well.

All in all my last couple gfs have been fun, but -ev for life goals.

I'm down around $1400.00 I think in 120 hours since I purchased a poker tracker for my phone.

Looking forward to starting at least a 5 session win streak tonight though.

I am capable of making all the right plays, I just have to execute better and get a little bit of run good.

Surprisingly, no real monster pots come to mind. I don't really track pot size records, but if I recall, the biggest pot was against a spewmonkey where I flat a preflop raise with JJ, then spewmonkey limp/reraises 55, I just lol flat again, and we get it all in on the turn on a 8842 board, I think for around 200bb each total (this hand also helped me set my single session record of +$1598). Other than that, no real monster pots come to mind.

I will say my win streak should have ended at 9 as my last winning session in the streak I sucked out in a decent pot as a big underdog. I 3bet a gambooley extremely loose opener with AQ, a more sane person coldcalls the 3bet and then leads 1/2 PSB into me on a Q high board; he starts hand with less than 100bbs so I decide it's a ship vs fold situation, I decide to ship, he has KK, whoops, but I suckout. That hand enabled me to book a smallish winning session in my last session of the streak.

I'm up $862 in 32 hours (7 sessions) for an hourly of:
$26.88/hour
at 2/5 and 3/5 = 5.4 bb/hour
but here's the fun part:

Standard lol Deviation is: $435.19/hour

So I have NO IDEA whether I'm winning or not.

OK, I know, I just can't prove it yet.

Edit: This year.

4x100 BB stack
For the most part if you get into a hand, you will have room to maneuver. Still gives you room to set mine over standard raises.

Having said that, you will need to run well in your first few sessions or your toast no matter what you buy in for.

I highly recommend against this unless you are totally fine burning 2k. Grind the 1/2 to 5k, but even then that's low, 10k is the recommended bankroll for 2/5.

That said, I would do the 4x 100bb, but there is an argument to be made for shortstacking. You need to have discipline, understand ss play, and have the right table.

i say 4 100bb because at least then you can get a feel for the game and learn a bit. When you short stack it more of picking your spots to get it in, and hope villains are incompetent or get coolered/run bad.

With 100bb at least then you can bluff raise, float, check raise etc. in addition to profitably setmine etc.

4 x 100bb and have a job is the right answer. Otherwise, keep check raising donks at 1/2.

I think it's ok to take a shot at 1/2 with $2k. Just play tight and aggressively. 2/5? LoL, might as well just let it all ride on black.

Hence the usage of "shot"

I'm rolled for 1-2

Instead of waiting til I grind up to 8-9k bankroll, I'm willing to risk 2k in order to expedite moving up, fully knowing and being comfortable with going back to grinding 1-2 if i bust(inb4 'when')til I can afford another shot
