Deal 5 cards per player (6 player max), first round of betting. You use a button and blinds like holdem or omaha. Deal a flop, bet. Make sure the dealer does not rush at this point, and does not burn. Next step is to ask each player, in turn, to put out their discards. Each player can draw from 0-5 cards. Earliest position indicates first, and separates the discards from the keepers. Once everybody has done this, then the dealer burns, deals replacement cards in turn, and immediately also deals the turn card. 3rd round of betting. River card dealt, final round of betting.
At showdown, half the pot goes to the best PLO hand, using 2 from your hand 3 from the board. Other half of the pot goes to the best draw hand, using all 5 from your hand.
Since it's not hi-lo split, odd chip goes to PLO hand. If two players are splitting the PLO or draw half, odd chip goes to early position.
Greg says if we play Svetin he would love to play. Might be kind of hard to keep track of what you are up to after a few drinks. And the dealer would definitely need to be sober.
I think we need a game that can be played 9 handed. I also think nlhe is the best choice as far as everyone (including dealers) being able to auto pilot it and focus more on conversation, drinks, slow rolls, etc. Adding a new silly rule or two is fine too ime as it gets the brain working a little strat wise, makes the game more fun/less serious, and it gives people one more thing to talk about. Once again though, I'm up for anything/the consensus.
I don't know Greg personally, but he is more than welcome to come play if he wants. He seems to have a pretty good vibe from what I can tell...
