Both of these hands are coolers, and the money likely would have gone it anyway, but by betting and building the pot, it's a lot easier to get stacks in.

H1:

V is a young kid but seems decent and competent. Rest of table are older folks due to the demographics of the area. (SWFL)

I have about $900, I cover by a little.

UTG limps, MP limps, V makes it $25 in late position. I have KdKh in the SB an make it $100. Limpers fold, V calls.

Pot: $210 Flop: Ks-Tc-3c

I bet $75. V calls.

Pot: $360 Turn: 3s

I bet $200. V calls.

Pot: $760 River: ? blank, don't remember

I shove $550-ish, V snaps and tables TT

Hand 2:

V is an older man wearing a Lodge poker room hat. This is in Miami, so different room, players, ages, etc. More younger people, more women. We chatted about the room and the action since I'm planning a trip out there soon. He doesn't strike me an action player though, and true to form he doesn't seem to get out of line while we're playing.

V covers me by $5. I have $1040 to start the hand.

Button straddle, so it's really 5/10, plus you have make it more so the button doesn't get priced in. Did I mention how much I dislike button straddles?

BB limps, MP limps, H $50 with QQ (probably should have gone $60, but don't want to chase everyone out either)

BTN calls, BB, MP call.

Pot $200: Q-5-6 rainbow

Since it's 4 ways it's far easier to want to bet so I c-bet $100.

BTN calls after a bit of though, others fold.

Turn: ($400) Q-5-6-7

I bet $275, V calls pretty quickly, which surprised me. Maybe he has 7-8 and thinks he has more outs? Maybe he's trapping me with 89?

River: ($950) a beautiful 6

I shove $615

V goes into the tank (briefly) and says, "I can beat aces and kings and pocket fives, but I lose to queens and pocket sixes. I have to call, I call."

V has 77 and I scoop a huge pot.

Coolers, but by not slow-playing the flop, all the money went in without having to overbet the river (which I've rarely do as a bluff, don't tell anyone).

So the moral of the story is pile as much money in as possible bc of your hand strength in spots where you only do it with the nuts and they know it, but it’s ok bc they’ll have 2nd nuts plenty so don’t mess around and get fancy with any pokering? Noted.

This is an impressive level of self importance for one thread lol. Both hands are misplaced fwiw and it's not that you bet flop. Both hands should be bet on the flop
