When are we calling/folding to maniac's blind shove pf? When are we calling/folding to maniac's blind shove pf?

So villain is incredibly loose. A maniac. he got 10 8 and K 3 ai pf and won both times 100-200bbs deep. he has been constantly raising and 3betting pre and post flop w/ atc. Hero is 4/4 against villain up to this point and villain has mentioned that he will get hero. Hero just doubled up vs villain and is sitting w/ about 1450ish.

Now the hand. villain is utg and before cards are even dealt he announces all in and puts his stack in the middle. He did it the last 2 hands as well doubling up someone once and taking the blinds the other. Villain is down to his last 410 and is all in dark. definitely didn't see his cards.

It folds to hero in mp w/ 8 8????

4 players left to act behind hero 1 has hero covered the rest range from 175bbs-250bbs the remaining 4 players are fairly tight from what i can tell but maniac has loosened the table up considerably as expected.

A. Call
B. Fold
C. shove... i don't think so
If i call and someone behind me shoves, am i folding to the big stack? Or what about the other stacks? I forget what the other stack was at but he was between the 175bb stack and 250bb stack. What kind of a range should I be calling w/?

88 is a ugly hand here. It is just good enough you hate to fold against a blind villain, but from MP you don't want action behind with a medium pair. With a weaker pair, I'm folding because the risk of action behind is too high, and with TT+ I shove and hope that nobody behind has AA/KK.

I would be looking at the people behind to see if I can get any read what they want to do. If they look ready to fold, then shove, that way hands like TT/JJ/AQ that might flat can't stick around. If they look ready to call, then I'm getting out of the way, most opponents call/shove range here beats 88. I really don't have a calling range in these situations unless villain's stack is so short that I'm really playing the other deep stacks in the hand.

Shove, not close.
88 is far and away ahead of a UTG's range consisting of every possible Hand.
We're also likely to have best hand.
Problem is we only get called from better hands from all other players. Good news is the range of calling hands from other players is quite small. JJ+, AK.
So, the EV we gain from UTG far outweighs the few times one of the other players wakes up with a superior holding.

Against villains random hand, we have 69.1% equity. Against a range of AK, JJ+, which I'd say approx the calling range for the players left to act, we still have 33.3% equity in the side pot, and 27.3% equity in the main (#POKERSTOVE). So lets say that the villain who covers you wakes up with AK, JJ+ 5% of the time (worst case scenario):

EV = .05(.273(1230)-.627(410)+.333(1040)-.667(1040))+.95(.691(410)-.309(410))
= +$135.357

Very easy shove

You got lucky. This belongs in BBV?

There is no need to shove. $400ish is a big bet in 2/5nl and its not like someone will try to push you off the hand w something like AT. Shoving 250bb deep w 88 because you want to ISO a $400 blind bet is unnecessary. You can be 100% assured that if you flat and someone jams OTT of you, they have KK+. And its not like your shove is folding out JJ+.

So just flat
