$1/2 NL. Here is the basics of how the hand played out. i am in early position and have $280, i look down and see 2-2 so i limp in, another 3 players call the $2 then a late position player, whom i know quite well, raises to $12. one person ahead of me calls, med. stack , i call and another person calls ($700).
The flop comes 2-7-k with 2 spades. the original raiser bets $35. I put him on a-k pre flop and this confirms it, as I said I know him and he doesn't bet $35 without good reason. The next player folds and I am pretty sure I have the best hand. With 2 kings out i doubt anyone has a set of kings and a set of 7's is possible but i'm not gonna worry about that yet. I have one player to act behind me and he has $700 and is a good player. So I raise another $50. The $700 guys thinks a long time, then calls. The original raiser (a-k) asks if a-k is good and folds. the turn is another spade. I know I am beat i know i have outs....blah blah blah. my question is since I raised $50 and got called obviously the bet was too small, what do you think I should have raised. after replaying the hand i feel i should have moved in on the flop and taken the $85 or maybe had the flush draw fold and the a-k call..who knows but some input would be ap[preciated.

Thanks

How do you know you're beat? Do you really think this player always has a flush?

How do you know you're beat? You believe he has a flush or 77 100% of the time?

i know i am beat cause the hand went to showdown. I am mor einterested in what i should have bet on the flop to get the nut flush draw to fold. He very well may not have but my thought are that in raising only $50 i was giving him 2 to 1 pot odds and thats good for him to call with a flush draw. if i raised it 100 or 150 it ruins his odds but leaves me so short it makes more sense to push in and really make his decision easy to fold. with him gone the a-k may very well call seeing as i over bet the pot and think i am stealing....

The question is not what should you have bet to make him fold, the question is what is the maximum amount he would have called. This can vary greatly depending on the player.

But you want to raise enough so you're not giving them good odds.
So pot's about $87 when action gets back to you on the flop. So you made it $85. So the FD was only getting 2 to 1 w/ action behind him so it wasn't a terrible raise, but yeah I might have made it more like $120 giving him only 1.7 to 1 which is a pretty bad price to draw.

Oh and the other guy who asked how do you know that guy is on a FD?
At low limits when you see bet, CR, and cold call on a board like this it's 100% a draw.
