sorry for my drunk question. it made perfect sense at the time.

1) Thoughts on Rush poker and what would be your initial/general strategy?
2) (Not being a dick here) How well equipped (straight out of school with a handful on internships) do you feel with regard to starting your own business? Any plans/ideas to make a successful business without a bunch of experience?
3) Assuming you settle down at some point soon, what cities are you thinking about? What cities could you NOT live in?

all tables normal speed 50bb min... I think too much to play at fast tables and F shortstackers obv. I don't mind them as much as most people but they definitely cut into my winrate at those tables.

How tired would you have to be for you to quit a game with Scout? ( given your small edge should quit A game philospohy)

I don't need my A game vs. scout haha. I have quit games where I was playing with him (and similarly bad fish) if I had a prior commitment or if I thought I was tilted/playing badly. Yes you will expect to win at those tables, but there are no guarantees.

Thoughts on PTR? If you owned a major poker site would you spend money trying to stop them?
Personally I like it. Obviously it is real bad for the sustainability of online poker because it makes bumhunting much easier. I would imagine that good HU players must hate it.

What it comes down to it for me is, PTR is out there so I might as well use it to the best of my ability. Poker is a war of information, controlling how much information you give to other players, enticing them to give you information, and using public information more effectively than your opponents. I believe that I can use the info on PTR much better than my opponents will so thus it is +EV for me.

I considered it when I was in Michigan because all of my friends had full-time jobs so could only hang out with them after work and they couldn't go out very often. I decided that there were plenty of other ways to meet people though, got involved in a young advertising professional group (read: hot, smart women who are very work hard/play hard) and an indoor soccer team.

- Did you ever get a poker coach?

Yes, answered earlier, I have had two, one for FR/6m, one for HU. Most likely going to get another coach for 6m in near future.

- Did you ever figure out how to become less of a life nit? (we all saw the car )

I don't really think I am a life nit... it is all relative. Obv I am nitty compared to poker players but compared to the general population I am probably a pretty sick human. I mean how many people would travel out to CA on a whim, find a house in 2 days, move out 3 weeks later and pay $200/night to get the best bedroom?

Honestly, I absolutely love my car and I am pretty proud of it... I couldn't imagine upgrading at this point. I find the whole culture where people are judged by what kind of car they drive pretty lol and I could honestly care less.

- Do you have any non-poker playing friends?
Um yeah... at Ohio State obviously pretty much all of my friends were non-poker friends but since graduating I definitely have drifted apart a bit from them outside of all my fraternity brothers and my friends from back in Cleveland. Unfortunate, but a lot of times friendships are kinda friendships of convenience.

Haters wanna hate.

I looked hard at mustangs but the only mustangs for under 27-30k were the base models and fk that. Also, my insurance rates would have been about 3x as high since I had a couple accidents at the time which hadn't come off my record yet.

I do watch videos whenever I can so I guess I'd say I play 7 hours a week and study about the same time. Should I try to put any available time to play more?

My plan was to use all my rakeback & bonus money for coaching, but with such a small sample each month I don't know if there is any benefit in having several coaching lessons per month.
Yeah you just have to put in the hours. I was in a similar situation in college where I only had about 15 hours maximum to dedicate to poker so I didn't really see much improvement until I graduated and had more free time.

Alot of the value of coaching is in being able to go to the tables in between sessions to try out new things that you can go back and refine with your coach in the next session. Also, since coaching (should) increase your winrate, the value of coaching is directly proportional to the volume that you play. So as a low volume player, even though it is likely an +EV investment in your game, your expected return on investment from coaching would be significantly lower than that of a high volume player.

I'm sorry that I was unable to hold your attention.

I don't play live very often but I have been pretty successful when I have. Played alot of 5/10 live at the WSOP last summer, going to play a good amount of 10/25+ at Commerce for the LAPC coming up soon. Highest I've played is 25/50/100 at PCA with 60% of my action.

Funnest live game I have ever played was this past summer playing 5/10 at the Red Rock with Orel Hershiser, ptero, and a few local businessmen. I had to borrow money to get 5k on the table which was basically shortstacking this game since the average pot was 1k going to the flop (the plan was for everyone in the house to get hammered and play 1/2). Orel was completely wasted making pretty hilarious off-color jokes that were pretty out of character lol. He was in good spirits, up around 15k (yes at 5/10) from getting hit in the face with the deck so he bought a couple of $200 bottles of wine for the table and then bought everyone tableside breakfast around 9AM when the game finally broke.

Worst hand I have ever played live was probably at EPT Barcelona which you saw Zep berate me for earlier. I was playing in a super super sick soft live 10/20 euro NL game (basically 15/30 US) and this was about 8 hands into the game starting. There are 6 limpers in front of me on the button (I told you this game was soft) with K8s and I am getting antsy to get involved so I iso to 160 (I think this is horrendous obv). First two limpers fold and the third limper wastes little time before saying raise and throwing out a 500 euro chip and everyone folds to me. He seemed pretty fishy aggro and noone over over limps a big hand right? So before I realize what I have done (I think I might have blacked out for a minute) I have said all in for about 3400 euros and get it in basically drawing dead against aces. Especially well played since this is all of the cash I have left on me in Barcelona. gg me

Some combo of the following...
  • Less tough decisions to make on average compared to 6m/HU.
  • I like always being one of the primary aggressors at the table rather than having to adjust to aggressive players.
  • Simply comfort level... majority of my hands lifetime, both tournaments and cash games have come in a 9 handed setting so I am very familiar with opening/stacking off ranges/etc where as I am still trying to catch up on all of this stuff as I learn 6m on the go.

I have no doubt though that playing FR and the auto-pilot mentality that it perpetuates stunted my growth as a poker player and that I would probably be much more successful today if I had started playing 6m instead.

cats or dogs?

My mom is the office manager at an animal hospital so we always had a full house animal wise from taking in strays who couldn't find a home. We had 4 cats and 2 dogs at our high point.

I've always been a cat guy just because I think they are the smarter/more intuitive species and you have to really earn your trust while dogs like just about anybody. Our dog Kiala (back in Cleveland, not in LA) is really trying hard to win me over to that side though... she is dumb as a rock but very sweet.

TLDR

Basically Seth, Pettey, and I had been throwing around the idea for awhile that it would be awesome to get a sick mansion since with the current real estate market you can rent a sick house for a very reasonable price. We talked to GrandMelon and Cow and they were very interested as well so we decided to try and make it happen.

I was kind of treading water in Royal Oak at the end of October when RogueAce, Ricky and I helped put together a weekend trip to Vegas for my 23rd birthday, which happened to land on a Friday. Cow, Seth, Kelisitaan, and Coordi also went and we met up with Whale and Nolan who were(are) living in Vegas. On Sunday of this weekend, Seth manages to talk me into going to check out LA for a few days instead of going back home to Michigan from Vegas since I had never been to Cali before. We met up with Secr23 and decided to check on some houses.

We take a look at Craig's List and take down the phone numbers so that we could just call them on the way there to check out the place (lol). The first number we call, the agent is real cool (just a bit older than we are) and he basically abandons his schedule and spends the next 2 days showing us around the whole city. We come across our current house in the Hollywood Hills on day 2 and pretty much instantly decide that we MUST HAVE.

Pettey wanted to stay in SD and Secr was not able to get out of his current lease downtown so we were sitting there committed to a big lease starting in less than a month with only 4 people signed on. Seth had the idea of making a post on 2p2 in the HSNL forum recruiting "candidates" for the 5th spot. We received a ton of response, some were qualified, many were not lol. We all agreed after talking to him that UCIPitcher would be the best fit for the 5th spot and it has worked out great so far!

Very nice Well. Great read.

May have been answered earlier (someone asked but I don't recall seeing an answer), buy what's the story with your 2+2 avatar?

Also, on a more serious note, now that you fluctuate between a variety of levels, do you struggle not to play too spewy at levels where the money is not as big (i.e., dropping back down to 5/10 after playing 10/25 or 25/50)?
