Without a doubt, the lifestyle. It is so hard to keep a normal schedule and not regress to just playing poker and being lazy all day. I've become much less productive, probably less social and definitely more stressed out. It is damn near impossible for me to wake up at a normal hour and you really have to make an effort on staying in physical shape.

- how did you come to the point not playing result oriented and always look for the right play against opponents range?

I'm not sure I'm there yet to be honest, definitely something I struggle with since I am a super intuitive player and have make a lot of plays where I'm just like "boy I just don't think this here fella has much here". I kind of think the whole balancing thing is pretty overrated, I just make the play that I think is optimal in that situation and let the balancing kind of take care of itself.

- What is the best way to crush/exploit all ABC standard robot FR smallstakes player who are FPP- pros and SNE-elite multitabling grinder?

Pound on them until they reach their breaking point... then hit a set. Basically just force them to play the opposite of how they want to play. If they want to pot control, 2x pot bet on the turn. If they want to "wait for a better spot" out of position, 3b them everytime they open and raise every cbet. If they don't want to make a big call down then barrel them all day.

- If you would start today with cashgames with your poker knowledge now which first three importent things you would are looking for ?
like tableselection,seatselection,opponents tendencies...

I don't really understand the question... can you rephrase? I do think that game/table selection cannot be overemphasized and my proficiency at it is responsible for a good amount of my edge.

- What are the most importent HUD stats for you?

Post flop tendencies. Call cbet vs. raise cbet hands down being the most important... so important to separate these out.

- say you have a solid TAG 13/11/3 style and now you will change gears and playing some kind of 20/18/5 LAG style.. which kind of adjustments do you make in terms of staking off light? like TPGK against opponents who obv. try playing back... How do you use your LAG image to your advantage?

Well I don't change anything in terms of my staking off range until they adjust to me, which could take an extremely long time because of how long large samples tend to converge, the few amount of hands you will actually play against a certain player that get to show down etc.

As far as using my LAG image... I always bluff in spots they think I must have it. After I make a move and they give me credit I always bluff again because they think "oh he must have it this time". After I get credit I always bluff again because they think "no way he tries this again". Then I get aces and collect the chips.

I couldn't imagine soliciting one tho.

But... I do really enjoy haggling in real life (as I am guessing you heard from your ?) so if I did deal with one you better believe I would put Trump to shame with my negotiating prowess

Future is looking a bit dim as we stand as games are getting tougher at an exponential rate and will continue to get tougher unless an outside force acts. The poker economy depends on a steady supply of fish (i.e. new money into the economy) because millions leave everyday from the poker economy because of rake. So imo something needs to happen for a new poker boom such as U.S. regulation, a Chinese boom, easier ways to deposit, an economic boom (bringing more discretionary income aka income to blow on online poker) etc etc

do you have a car ? pics ?

2009 Ford Focus SES

I bought it about a year and a half ago (pre million) so I wasn't super robusto yet and I was pretty much required to get a Ford to go work there... If I was buying a car now I would get something more baller like an Audi/Benz/etc. but cars are a terrible investment and I like the one I have just fine.

what's a typical day now you are in LA ?

during the week I pretty much get stuff done/work out/do coaching during the day and play at night. during the weekend I go out and do stuff... we're currently planning a big party for next fri and got zep/thanksb coming up here the following weekend. I have a long list of touristy type things I want to do while I am here in LA that I haven't gotten to yet, but now that I am finally settling in I think its about time to start crackin on that.

Do you set yourself a goal of numbers of hands played ? $ ?

I think setting a monetary goal is a big mistake and psychologically can cause you to play badly since so much of how you make in the short run is our of your control. I used to always set goals on number of hands I played when I was at midstakes but now that I am playing a ton more high stakes games which only run when certain players are on that is somewhat out of my control as well. So I guess I kind of just have a lame goal to put it a certain number of hours every month between playing/coaching and to only play when I am playing my A game =)

The regs. They are much better at putting you in ridiculous sick spots, much better at balancing ranges/frequencies, playing much fewer tables so they are paying much closer attention taking all of the edges possible and exploiting you much better. Also, all of the games only really run around a mark so it creates a very interesting dynamic where everyone knows the game has a short lifespan and everyone is trying to isolate the fish at the same time.

-feelings about OSU football next and terrell prior as a possible nfl quarterback

I think OSU is poised for another run next year, they are bringing back almost their entire team and Pryor is only going to get better. I don't really forsee him having a bright future in the NFL though, since his big edge is his size/quickness vs. college players which will basically disappear in the NFL, not to mention his questionable arm strength.

-when you get into a tough hand whose the first player you try to discuss the hand with and why?

Um usually the roommates or whoever I happen to be talking to on AIM at the time... probably Marccus85 most often though because he knows the HS regs really well and often thinks of angles that I wouldn't have

- favorite movie

Godfather Part II... pure cinematic perfection

- best restaurant youve been to

I feel like I am copping out for picking Vegas restaurants but probably Nobu for sushi and Cut for steak.

- what felt the best out of winning the million, ur biggest cash win, or that 1500 dollar tourney you won to start ur bankroll?

Would probably have to be the million. Hard to describe the feeling, it is like being on top of the world. Almost makes me want to fire up a donkament.... oh wait nm.

-favorite purchase from poker winnings

the mansion? I dunno paying off all of my college loans before graduating was pretty satisfying... also just walking into the dealership and buying my car with a 20k check was pretty satisfying too. I'm a $ nit =/

- most degen thing you have done with your money in the last 2 years

probably craps. I said no more -EV gambling until Vegas. I've done a few 5k flips online and a good amount of multiway 1k flips so I guess that is pretty degen too lol

-How many live tournaments did you play so far since you started poker? Any good result?

I've probably played about 30 or so unless you count all of the charity events I played when I was bustoish at Ohio State. I've played 4 10k's with no cashes, most tournaments I have played have been in the $500-$1500 range though.

My biggest cash is taking down a $200 donkament at Caesar's for 28k on the last day of my first trip to Vegas in the summer of '08.

-Post a graph of your 2009 year with the all-in EV line please.

Total lifetime winnings at 6max cash?

I'm down probably about 50k but most of these losses are from running bad in soft 25/50 6m games. I think I am a slight loser lifetime (~ -1ptbb) but I have been winning at a steady rate in recent months. I had never played 6m before and I kind of just jumped into a bunch of 5/10 6m in an effort to find more 5/10+ games so my early results weren't really too surprising. Also, when I was playing the majority of my 6m I was playing up to 30 tables which I realize now was a pretty terrible decision... If I just 9 tabled 5/10 6m like alot of those regulars do I am pretty confident I would be a decent winner even in reg filled games.

Judging from your graph, would you say u are a long-term 2.5ptbb winner?
Depends on where you are talking.

I mean I think the whole concept of winrates is kind of laughable to be honest because people's skill/playing style/state of the games is so dynamic that a player will never achieve their "true winrate" since their true winrate always changes.

My winrate is definitely significantly higher nowadays than it was in the past... For example, at my "main game" of 5/10 FR, my winrate is 6.5ptbb since July (a little under 100k hands).

Have you ever played lower than 1/2?

nope

Hardest limit transition(s)?

definitely 1/2 to 2/4... I think it was just adjusting the amount of money involved more than anything. Also, at 1/2 I got accustomed to just having a winning session every time I sat down and 2/4 definitely has a significantly higher amount of variance.

What software do you use for

1/ Buddy lists

PTR buddy list... the software sucks but it is real easy to PTR a random and just add him

2/ shortcuts etc (AHK?)

TableNinja/TableNinjaFT... absolutely all you need

Who has provided you with the best advice during your poker career?

Ptero was a really great mentor for me when I was looking to move up from 1/2 to the midstakes.

Do you have a coach atm?

No, been coached by BalugaWhale and Zugwat in the past. Keeping my eyes open for a high stakes 6m coach but the few on my wish list have turned me down since we play together too often
