Because of the nature of the hand this is moreso a line check, though I'm almost certain I botched at least the second half of the flop.

1/2, $200 effective with main villain, 9 handed. Villain is LAG, probably a very small winner, definitely thinks. Villain views hero as a TAG most likely.

OTTH

Villain opens UTG +2 $12 (uses same sizing), HJ on tilt calls, hero calls CO 8 8 and NIT calls BB.

Flop ($49): 7 6 4. BB checks, villain checks, HJ bets $35, hero tank calls (was deciding between raise and call), BB folds, villain raises to $110, and HJ folds.

At this point I really believe villain is bluffing at an insanely high frequency. From what I've seen, villain c bets almost all value. In addition, this board doesn't hit villain particularly hard. Lastly, I think my tank might have inadvertently induced him. I think after the fact that this should just be a shove on my part. I called in the moment to leave bluffs in, but there are so many potentially bad turn cards, that I think we should just shove here. Hero calls.

Turn ($304): T. Villain checks and hero shoves for villain's $78. I don't think we can really do anything different as played.

This hand is almost exclusively meant to focus on flop action, but all thoughts are appreciated.

Are you calling or raising the original $35?

Shove the first time. Once PFR checks, nit behind, and tilty guy bets 35, you're just best off pushing equity via jam. Nit folds near-always, pfr folds near-always and you get to gii clean against lots of pair+/FD type hands or just win the pot now sometimes.

I'm calling and then shoving once the raise comes in. I don't like the idea of shoving right after the bet, because it's just a really bloated pot to play with just a pair of 8s.

It was $500 effective with villain on tilt

I dont find this hand very weird at all. I would mostly just fold the flop to the $35 though.

I would flat the $35 from the high j and fold to the raise from the villain. By check raising to $110 , I would think villain would be willing to get it in on the flop and I would put his hand range on 2 pairs plus or on super combo draws like As5s , 8s9s which 88 is not really ahead.

Turn ($304):
Based on the size of the pot vs the remaining stacks it's fine to shove for a chance to fold out some of the bluffs that are two overs, which have something like 20-25% equity against your hand. As for whether to fold or continue, you went with your read which was that something didn't smell right. Trust your reads and modify as you play more.

Calling the turn is a foregone conclusion. Calling any turn.

Not listed anywhere . Tilt guy should be the main V at the inflection point.

Wow that's tight. Overpair and a gutter and you fold flop to a less than pot size one bet from someone tilting. And I thought I was the nit.

I havent been called a nit while playing in a very long time, but you're right. Folding this is definitely rather nitty. I just hate this spot overall.

The preflop raise was 6x and went 4 ways so the pot is bloated. We are facing a 3/4 pot bet so this pot is likely going to end up all in before its over. There are still 2 more guys behind us.

We have an over pair on the flop but its not a high overpair. We could easily be destroyed by other overpairs. The flop texture is going to give other guys 2 pairs, pair and FD, or FD and overs a lot more often than they will have things like A7 in a raised pot. I think our overall equity vs the hands that will continue and play a big pot is rather low. Its just not a very good spot IMO.

I throw this one in the trash and go back to drinking my coffee.
