1/3 at Jamul in San Diego

UTG limps, LJ limps, Hero in CO with 55hd raise to $20. Button calls, BB calls, and limpers call.

5 players (~$100 pot)

Flop: QQ6 rainbow. Checked around to hero. Hero?

BB has been a fit/fold type of player and recently got stacked with AA on a wet board when his villain flopped but straight.

UTG is very loose passive and sees almost every flop. Bets when he hits and checks when he misses IÂ’m not worried about him on this hand.

LJ has it out for me particularly this day as he told me so about 30 minutes ago. Played with him for many hours over the past year. He tends to overvalue his one pair hands, overplays non-nut flush draws. His limping range is everything except premiums. Never seen him slowplay a premium preflop.

Button is a tight passive player. When the flop came out it was obvious he was not interested in continuing with his hand.

Easy board to bet tiny on, $25 or so, a high percentage of the time.

Effective stack is about $300

Effective stacks? I'll assume 100bbs.

I'd just happily overlimp and setmine here. At tables with no FE (which this one looks to be) then the only real argument (imo) for raising is to juice the pot in order to play for bigger stacks postflop if we hit, but stacks would have to be massive for $20 to be that sizing (and even then you could argue that if someone is willing to get in massive stacks against a set of 55 that we could be in trouble).

I'd probably check the flop back.

A good strategy for a pre-flop raiser on a paired board is to bet small, somewhere between 1/4-1/3 of the pot. You should be making this type of bet with your Qx's too, unless it's a specific HU situation and you feel like your opponent isn't the type to peel one with A high or a pp himself.

Throw out a feeler $30 and re-evaluate if called.
