V1 seems to be a pretty solid player. I haven't seen him get out of line at all and he probably plays mostly value hands.

V1 has about $130, hero covers.

Hero opens to $10 UTG with 77. My image is good and I've run my initial buy-in up to about $400. Also, there is a huge fish at the table who plays any two. A few orbits ago, I saw him limp in EP, then call a 3-bet with Q-9o so I'm REALLY trying to play as many pots as I can with this guy, who is currently sitting on about $250.

V1 calls, and fishy (but irrelevant) villain calls. Everyone else folds.

Flop: ($30)

2 4 5

Hero bets $20 and V1 SNAP-calls. He nearly beat me into the pot. V2 folds.

The turn is another 4. ($70) I bet $40 and he goes all-in for another $70.

I can't see what I'm beating here but I'm getting > 3:1.

Hero?

I think would have checked the turn. When you bet the turn you have to be ready for his shove... Basically expecting it. He could easily have two overs, FD, SD, over pair... Its hard not to call now. But im not betting turn.

I would have just bet $110 on the turn.

Fishy snap-acting villains will show up with all sorts of things here.

Flush draws
3s
5x
66

4s
22/55
A3/36
88-JJ

There's a lot we beat and a little more that we lose to. I'd shrug call it getting 3:1. It's not a great spot but I wouldn't call it "ugly" with stacks so shallow. This is just about one of the best boards for 77 that doesn't have a 7 on it.

insta call. Feels like a 3 or some flush draw

I only have a small sample size, but I've found that from most players but total beginners who can't control their emotions the quick action is not a very strong holding. It's usually a tell of weakness from a hand that wants to intimidate you into letting it get to showdown cheaply, such as a weak made hand or a draw.

Unfortunately 88-JJ falls into this category as you have a lot of better pairs in your range which may make V uneasy about his hand, but so do things like suited broadways and suited aces that he may have, or A5s, etc.

This is too hard to fold getting such good odds.

I'd call getting 3-1 because snap calls are always weak IMO so we can take any strong flopped hands out of villains range. Think only hands that beat us now is a 4 and he is defiantly shoving more than that.

I tanked, told the villain I had an overpair to the board but didn't think it was good. I called anyway and he had QQ and held.

It sure felt gross at the time.
