$1/2

V - 30s white guy. I just sat down at the table and have only seen 1 round; however V has been involved in a lot of pots in that round. He made two biggish river bets, but hasn't showed his cards yet. He's either getting good cards or he's a possible LAG. ($600)

V2 - 50s white guy who's drinking, laughing, and limping a lot pf ($200ish)

Hero - Hasn't played a hand until now. ($300)

V limps UTG
V2 limps from MP
Hero raises to $15 OTB with 1010
both Vs call

Flop ($45)
982
Both Vs check
Hero bets $35
V1 raises to $80
V2 folds
Hero calls

Turn ($205)
4
V bets $100
Hero folds

Thoughts?

A LAG is going to be absurdly wide here -- A9x, 76s, JT/QTo all fire this turn, hoping that you will be terrified of the 3flush. Given a range of {A2-A7, A9x, 76s, 98, JTo, QTo, sets} we have 37% with exactly a PSB behind. So, I call (jamming has no FE, not enough behind) and call off the rest on non-/Q/J rivers.

Either fold or jam OTF after his re-raise IMO depending on read, no point calling if there's so many cards (JQKA7 any club) that are going to scare you into folding your hand when faced with a bet. You're basically calling hoping to see one of 13 cards on the turn, any non club 3,4,5,6 and the Ten of hearts. Even then you'll then have to see a river card...

Not sure what to do but i dont think we can flat turn or even flop. We have committed 1/3 of stack on flop by calling with a 100pct chance of a decent size bet on turn. If we flat turn we only have $100 left and think we'd have to call a river shove.

I dont know a whole lot about how pot commitment works, but I think flop would be shove or fold.

Until I have substantiated evidence, or overwhelming circumstantial evidence, I assume all Vs are playing their cards. Its amazing how often I will be classified as a NIT against competent opponents when I've just been card dead for an hour, or vice versa as a LAG when I've gone on a semi-heater.

Well played. All options on the flop kinda suck.

If we range V for JT, 98, 67, QTcc, Kxcc, Axcc, Ac9x, Ac8x, Ac2x, 22, 88, 99

Then turn is a clear fold.

We're ahead of very little of his range, and have virtual no equity against those holdings we're behind.

We can't call the jam for any amount of money on club rivers. Can't think of a situation where we could call on Q/J rivers either. If V doesn't have JT here, this is a fold, but given that we have exactly a PSB behind vs described aggro I find it difficult.

Grunch,
In retrospect his small sized raise OTF was likely a semi-bluff (a very common mistake). OTT I fold. Well played IMO.
