Just folding here. Sure, he may not have trips. OTOH, he may have TT or KQ and already have a boat or have flopped a straight with AJ. Just because we have a good hand in general, does not mean that it is a good hand relative to the board and the action.
There's nothing ridiculous about his line. Whether he has a strong hand or not, he's usually going to check to the pre-flop aggressor on the flop. There are some bluffs in his range that think that your check OTF was just weakness, but given that
1) most LLSNL Vs bluff way too little and
2) This board is terrible for bluffing on, as it smacks the hell out of your range and most LLSNL players are also really bad at folding once they hit anything,
there are very few bluffs here. Maybe a few semi's like JsTs, but even that is rare OTT.
On the other hand, if he has the world, he likely missed a c/r OTF or just thought that his Kx is too strong to check twice. His line makes perfect sense for a strong value hand, and I have no idea why you think it's ridiculous.
Some of your other statements make me think you need some more work on the basics and don't have a lot of LLSNL experience.

agree we chk behind here since it's dry
It's not dry. It's wetter than a picnic in Seattle. It's just that V's range is never bare draws here. If he has a J for the SD, he has a pair to go with it. He's not going to fold his equity, so why bloat the pot and turn our SDV in to a bluff?

I wonder what could cause bb to call over 12bbs...I put him on at worst ak and a whole bunch of PPs
He has a hand he likes, so he calls the raise. Seriously, have you played LLSNL much? V's do this all the time. They aren't thinking about the fact that they are in bad position, or that the raise is a huge percentage of effective stacks, or even what effective stacks are. They are just thinking "oh, sweet, two Broadway cards!!!"
