First hand post!

1/2NL. 9-Handed. Table is super loose-passive.

Hero: Late-20's, been playing about an hour. Played only 2 hands, clearly the tightest player at the table.

Villain: mid 50's white guy. Calls lots of flops, very passive. Haven't seen him make a raise in an hour. Stack size ~ $140 Hero covers.

UTG limps
UTG +1 limps
Villain (MP) limps
CO limps
SB completes
Hero (BB) A7 checks option

Pot ($12)
Flop: 763

SB checks, Hero bets $12, UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, Villain Calls, CO folds, SB folds.

Turn ($36) J
Hero bets $22, Villain calls

River ($80) Q

Hero??

I'm not raising pre for obvious reason that I will still end up in 6-way pot, with suited Ax OOP. Flop has tons of draws, I lead to get a street of value out of draws and most likely have the best hand. With villain being so passive a call mostly just eliminates air from his range. However I'm ranging him on straight draws, flush draws, and/or pairs, possible small over pair as well. This is difficult for me since villain has been playing pretty much any two to a limp.

Turn: brings second flush draw + over. I doesn't complete any draws, I bet to continue for value. Call still doesn't get me much more info on villains range as he will pretty much take this same line with his whole range.

River: Is there still value to be had from smaller pairs? My read is that villain only bets here with better. So I'm thinking c/f is probably called for. Thoughts?

I think you played this hand well up to the river. It's a pretty clear c/f as guys like this are never stabbing with a missed flush draw. They are also never betting for value with 78, and sometimes not even with 63s.

If he bets the river he has either slowplayed a 2p+ hand from the flop onward or has a hand like JX or QX

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought. Just wondering if I could get more value out of a random 7x with a small river bet.

BTW River went check/check and villain tables 107

Given your read he only bets with hands that beat you, and you don't seem to have a read that he calls turns and rivers super light (especially once two overs hit), it's a pretty clear c/f.

I think a river bet of $30 is fine if villain is stationy won't turn random hands into a bluff. Our hand is basically as strong as 88 or 99

Turn is WP

Grunch:

Preflop: I too would have checked my option.

Flop: I do not like your bet into the 5 remaining players. I would have just checked and see what everyone else does.

Turn: Based on what you said, the villian calls preflop with lots of hands, so it would be hard to put him on a range. He called your flop bets so he must have something, str8 draw, flush draw, small pair, two overs? Not to sure about you firing a second barrell. Are you repping trips, two pair?

River: Not sure what you do here. Since you repped strength every step of the way, you could bet out again. If he was on FD or str8 draw he obviously missed, so he won't be putting any more money in the pot. IF he has a six or trey or a seven with a weaker kicker, he may call you if he thinks you are bluffing.
