9 handed @ 1/2 nl, hero has 89ss in LP.

UTG ($600) raises to 8

Hero (button) ($240) calls : 89ss
SB ($400) calls

4 ways to the flop ( $32):

679s rainbow
UTG bets $18. Do we call or raise here?
Villain leading out was in his 60s but no reads on anyone yet. Heads up i think raising is much better but 4 handed? We're on the button so we have position. Thanks

I think I would call here because if we raise and get reraised or shoved on, we're going to hate it. Plus there are still the blinds to act and this flop rates to connect with their ranges.

Hopefully we don't get raised OTF so that we can see the turn, hope to pick up equity and make V make another decision oop. If it's HU and he bets half pot or less, I'd start to consider a semi bluff raise.

Given Villain's description, Villain has either big over pair or AK, and is not generally going to be bothered by whatever we decide to do. I'm folding. We're not getting paid off big enough for the risk we would assume.

Calling or raising can both be fine, its a very flexible spot, we are sometimes going to get more action than what we want and need to give it up

Calling would be the default though

Then we should have just folded pre.

Which I tend to think we should do with no other callers.

The $8 preflop raise ... OP is that a standard size?

Totally don't understand the fold recommendation. With TP OESD (and backdoor FD?) you've got ton's of equity. Since it's still quite likely a drawing hand, and I have position - I don't mind letting other players in - so I call. If it's checked around to us OTT - I think we have to bet on the chance we are the best hand.

Raising is bad whether heads up or 4-handed. It is even worse 4-handed though.
