1/2 NL, live game:

I’m perplexed over this hand & would like some feedback. The table is made up of 4 good players and 6 weak to medium players +/-. I have AQos UTG. There is a strong player in the 7th position with a wide range that trying to stay away from. I limp for $2 and there are several callers & the BB makes it $7 to go. I smooth call along with 6 others. With $56 pot, the flop is A Q 5 with two spades. The BB leads out with $45. I raise to $90 as the BB has $50 behind and I put him on a big ACE. The my horror a weak/tight player in MP shoves for $212. The BB calls his $50 and I’ve got the MP villain covered. I think for a minute & I’m convinced he has a set of 5s. With about $450 in pot, it’s approx 4 to 1 for me to call. With a three outer if I’m correct with my read, I’m 11 to 1 to win. I make the $122 call and announce “I know that I’m behind”. The turn is nothing & the river is the case Ace. Even though I won the hand, I know that made a bad call. BTW, the BB had AKos and MP villain had a set of 5s. What would you do? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Not a bad call at all. You may have been behind in this particular case, but if youre folding top 2 on that flop for hardly more than a buy in, then its losing proposition in the long run.

It's a cooler hand. Once the flop was dealt the hand played itself, given the stack sizes. AKo could maybe get away, but who am I kidding, its live poker. Hand played itself.

Oh, and for the love of god raise preflop. After limping, 3 bet over the stupid $7 raise.

if you were going to fold when you flop top two with AQo do not play it, you won't flop trip or broadway enough.

Call - AA/QQ are not in MP's limping range. So there is 1 hand that beats us 55, but he can have worse 2 pair hands, and flush draws. BB is more likely to have us beat then MP. Do you have the As?

I also think limping in EP w/ AQo with your described table dynamics is a mistake both raising or folding, I think would be better then limping.

Since he could have a combo draws like K 10, K J, J 10 ss or hands like A 5 or hell it is 1/2 Q 5 I'm never folding in this instance with these stacks given action. Or he could just have a flush draw too.

Played it fine. If you add any combos of AQ and A5 your 11/1 getting 4/1 odds becomes a lot less than 11/1, that's for sure.

Great feedback, I appreciate it all. I agree with 3 bet, however given the table dynamic, I'm nearly certain the BB would have made a significant 4-bet or he would have gotten his $95 in pre-flop. At that point, I would have to let my hand go. Given my UTG positon & I'm not in love with the hand, I was attempting to see the flop. Ya'll are also correct that post flop, the hand really played its self. Thanks....
