Won 3bb/hr today and did not see one flop. Just waited for spots to jam my short stack against limpers with a capped range. Didn’t get a single call all session. Won such a small amount by ive been running so bad and making bad br decisions that I just needed to keep it simple and actually book a win even though it was super small. I hope this small win spikes some run good for me and better decisions For my next sessions. Thoughts??? Do you guys ever just play a short profitable session and switch your style up to turn the tide?? Thoughts on my strategy this session?

Here's the problem man. I'm assuming you're playing 1/2 or 1/3, if not I apologize in advance. With this strategy, you're not having fun, enjoying yourself, challenging yourself intellectually, or improving imo. So you're playing purely for profit. But you're basically making minimum wage.

Yes, most players are losing players. But a very large % of those people view poker as an entertainment expense I'm assuming, which probably isn't the case for you based on the strategy you implemented.

Buy in for 100 bb so you can call raises IP on the PFR profitably. It's going to vary based on a plethora of factors such as the size of the open, etc. but 22s+, and 56s+ is a decent cold calling range vs bad opposition 100bb effective vs a 5x open. But you need to be competent postflop, of course, if you want to call with the sc's and other speculative, drawing hands. Also, your EV with premiums goes up drastically when deeper, especially if you're able to thin the field pre.

tldr; your strategy is not good imo.

We've had a lot of threads on short-stacking. Please use the search function and check them out, and if they bring up a specific question that you don't find the answer to in the thread, either bump it, or if it's a big enough departure, start a new thread for it.

There's nothing wrong with booking a win when you're in a downswing, but be aware that short-stacking is not even close to low variance. While you may not have got any calls this time, usually you will be flipping often, which is obviously a high variance spot.
