So playing in a 5/5 no limit game with roughly $400-500 opponent has me covered. Playing 6 handed and raised Q9s from cutoff $30 (fairly standard raise for this game) a little larger bet for me 20-45 is my range with more bets being $20. small blind calls.

Flop is AJJss so have flush draw and bet $50 when checked to me we both check an off suit ten and I river a 8 for a straight no flush possible.

He leads for $60 and I raise it to $150, $90 more. He thinks forever and folds an ace faceup. Is the river raise okay to try to get some aces and JQ, and JK to call or dangerous on a paired board.

Extra issues not sure at that time if he pushed if I really would fold at that time so I might have gotten stacked if he did have the boat honestly 80% of time I think I might call a shove due to the mindset I had at that time. Not sure how many times he can push with a hand that doesn't beat the straight. Live game but he seemed competent especially when he folded the ace.

He bet $60 into $165 on the river here?

This is not spewy, its good thin value.

I probably raise to $185 with our straight (if he's calling 90 more he's calling 125 more). If he comes back over the top I probably fold and keep my remaining $240. Not many players are capable of doing this on the river without a boat.

As I often say, it doesn't matter if he folds this time. Eventually they'll get curious and call us down light.

Don't post results please.

you didn't barrel turn when you made a stronger draw?

What on the turn can Iget the guy tofold in a live game? Pretty much I have to put on at least an ace and I do not want to get check raised when I might have some equality in the hand. I think this pretty much a check behind and take the free card. But please others discuss.

I don't mind the raise here. However villain will automatically put you on the boat in this spot because its such a strong line. I don't see him calling with less than a straight in that spot. Maybe KJ.

On another note, if villain bets the turn then it's a call on the river no matter the bet. Even if he bets $20 on the river our hand becomes a calling type hand. Given the check on the turn by the villain I actually love the raise on the river but this is largely based on his bet size. If he bets half pot or greater here we have to call but given his weak line... his hand sort of turned face up.

Well played.

Both plays are fine. Play 1 is bet the turn, make villain fold anything but trips / boat / huge draws... this might be an option if we suspect villain to float the flop with a middle pocket pair. Say.. 77-99

Play 2 is take the free card, make your hand and get value. By checking the turn we save money when our draws fail to hit and villain has a strong hand which can be often on a AJJ10 board.

Hero has the bottom end of a straight on a paired board.

I think raising here is a little spewy. We might get a call from KJ or QJ but any other possible hand we get value from folds. AA, AJ, JT and KQ all beat us.

Raising is not total spew but probably -ev long run.
