1/3 NLHE 9 handed

Hero - young guy has been getting beaten up by the deck lately, lots of playable hole cards (QQ, JJ, TT, AQs etc) but keeps flopping the worst of it and trying to cut losses. UTG+2. 700$.

V - middle aged asian guy. I have some hours of play with him. He has two modes: mode 1 is he sits down and plays a tight almost rockish game. VPIPs around 15%. He'll limp in sometimes and he'll cold call sometimes from late position. He opens for huge sizing when he does open so I usually just fold. 20$ straight over the BB RFI sort of thing. I hardly ever end up in a hand with him as I just overfold. Mode 2 is he starts losing despite his rigorous preflop hand selecting and then he starts getting beers. At this point he loosens up considerably and just plays for fun and plays a typical game. Right now he's in mode 1 as the table hasn't been open long. MP. Covers.

---

Folds to hero who opens T T to 10, V 3-bets to 30, a couple people had to post as they missed blinds so there's 10$ in dead money out pre-rake, hero defends OOP HU. I'd say this is borderline for me, I'd probably fold 99- and AJ- and KQo.

Flop 65 - 9 7 7

Hero x, V bets 25, Hero calls.

Turn 115 - A

x, x

River 115 - 2

Hero?

Sounds like a fit or fold villain you have played with before. Looks an awful lot like KK or QQ. Some of these guys refuse to ever give up on KK. Some will give it up if you sneeze at a pot with an ace. Sounds like you have played with him enough to have a grasp on what he does postflop with his monsters that miss?

I think a bet of $100 gets the job done if hes type 2. If hes type 1 CB and take the L

in my experience nits with 15% vpip dont fold KK or QQ postflop regardless of the board and especially not after showing weakness on the prior street.

I just limp in but a small raise this deep almost accomplishes the same thing, so whatever. Never in love playing OOP as it massively cuts out IO, but for this sizing this deep I'm fine with ~setmining.

For this price I don't mind calling the flop. But I also think folding is probably fine against this guy.

Also checking (to fold) the turn.

The question on the river is how often this guy checks back AA on the turn and how often he's going to fold KK-JJ to a single river bet. We're really calling the flop with A high? Or preflop with a 7? Our story wouldn't really check out (other than maybe 99/77), so I probably just give up and check/fold.

Spoiler:
I check deciding not to get fancy and just give up. He checks back and hows QQ. Was wondering if I could have played it better post-flop somehow.

After re-reading our reads and realizing he's in mode 1, I think the only thing we could have done different is probably make a nitty fold on the flop.
