Just want to get some different perspective on how you guys go about when playing a hand. So say your on the btn per say, what would you do/think etc.
Pre flop
1. Observe opponents looking at their cards pre flop (neck pulses, etc)
2. If someone opens put them on a range.
3. Look at cards while player to right is acting.
4. Calculate pot
Preflop:
What is it standard to open from this position, and is there a reason to loosen up? The main reason to loosen up is that you'll get to play against someone you're better than.
Flop:
If I miss: How often is villain folding if I bet on this board? Will I have good barreling opportunities on the turn and river?
If I hit: What bet size maximizes value? Should I go for value now or later?
Mediums strength hand: should I bet for protection or check?
The best way to learn people's thought process is to read the threads of specific hands posted here. You should alsi read the COTMs listed in the sticky at the top
I'm hopeful posters are constructive about this thread because for me, it's probably the thing I've worked hardest on over the last 12 months
I have been forcing myself to think for at least five seconds before each decision post flop to understand why I'm acting in a certain way. It's really difficult but incredibly useful for me to make sure I know why I'm putting money into the pot, what I'm trying to achieve and how much I should bet to do this. Sounds so obvious but it's made me realise how often I am clicking buttons on auto pilot
