How about a COTM on 3 barreling?. It seems like live players like to "peel one off" on both the flop and turn.

Could we have an 'official' or 'main' type thread on table selection? It's an area of live poker that I feel I know next to nothing about, aside avoiding the good regs in my room. I'm sure it's an important part of playing live, but when you can't click 'sort by avg players to flop' then I don't know what I'm looking for.

It'd be great to hear what everyone has to say on the subject.

I have not received any PMs for a "HH of the week" post. Someone drop me a line and let's discus how to kick it off.

I think it is time to start a best of/reference sticky. We are starting to accumulate a lot of posts and I have noticed quite a few posters. Is it possible to sticky something Kurt? Just add the "Official" thread links, some best of llsnl threads, and COTM's. As time goes more can be added. Only add best of threads if enough people ITT request it.

venice has been on my case for a while now to turn the "Posting Guidelines" sticky into a full on FAQ, complete with links to good threads.

Just post up suggestions and nominations in this thread. I'll add them to a sticky.

As of right now The "Official" threads - Chat, WTFBBQETETC, Bankrolls

COTM's

I would say HH of the week but that list is going to get eff long.

I think the best of's should have requirements. A) Certain number of posts ITT (100+?) or B) People "vote" for it to be in the best of. Vote as in they request it ITT.

Other forums have COTW lists... I think a list of HHOTW would be just fine.

If there is a way to make it work, and Kurt wants to update it every week then I am down with that.

At least deputize KUD in your absence.

Also, I'd like a warning to anyone who posts a hand with the title, "Rate my Play."

If you're going to post a HH and all you're looking for is a thumbs up or down, you're missing the whole purpose.

Probably a stupid question, for a newb to this forum, but...

"any hand from online or from a game with $5/$5 blinds or larger"

Why is $2/5 considered LLSNL material, but $5/5 is not? Does it play that differently?

Also, it's an interesting comment on the growth of poker that four-figure session bankrolls (I assume 500NL means $1200+ in your pocket to buy in with) is considered "low-limit".

You must of missed the whole "we need our own live forum" debate. I think its centered more around the level of play than $ amount.

So, it's true then that the other NL forums are pretty much online-only, in effect?

Thanks.

Smallest stakes possible up to 5/5 live go here. 5/5 - biggest stakes possible go in med/high stakes. Micro and small are pretty much all online.

bluff less, tighten stack off range. lots of stuff depends on opponents - you can still float, bluff raise, etc... just have to pick your spots.

ya, thats a pretty broad topic, i dunno if theres a thread about it or not. but like masaraksh said, with each additional player you're generally up against a slightly better combined range (the ranges of all the other players together), so you can assess your hand strength a bit differently depending on how many opponents there are. you also interpret your opponents' moves differently: someone raising the flop in a 6-way PFR pot often means a lot of strength. generally the more players are in the pot, and the more money those players have invested in the pot, the more people tend to play their hand strength rather than make moves. (meaning, heads up a raise from an opponent can mean a wide variety of things. in a 6-way PFR pot, it usually means strength.)

im generalizing here obviously, all of this is villain- and situation-dependent. but gives you some stuff to think about

on the flip side you have better implied odds in multi-way pots, so your draws to nutty hands are worth more. adjust accordingly. (but at the same time, your K-high flush draw is more likely to be counterfeited by someone's A-high draw in a multi-way pot.)

stuff like that, but there's a million things. when i'm in a multi-way pot and have a someone borderline or tough decision to make, i often just ask myself "hmm, well how likely is it one of these players has a higher flush draw?" and then look at the info i have from their actions. or "hmm, how strong is my 2-pair against the combined range of 5 other players on this board?" or "hmm, did someone flop a set here? what would this player do if she had a set against lots of opponents? is there any draws she would need to protect her hand from?" or "hmm, how much fold equity do i have here against 5 players?" etc etc.

multi-way is actually a very interesting topic (and i do like threesomes!) but perhaps too broad for a dedicated thread.

you might have some luck by doing a thread title search for 'multiway' and 'multi-way' to pull up some HH's in multi-way pots

i kinda forgot you're a more regular poster while i was writing this, so you probly knew all this stuff already.. ; )
