Now this is a hand I played the other night with a guy on fulltilt, we were playing a good 4 to 5 hours on the same table so had some history. He kept raises on my big blind etc so I played a looser call with A7 offsuit. I want your general thoughts on how the hand played and how many awful mistakes were made!

Discuss The guy had Kings

my feelings to him are that; he thought I did a loose call with a lower pocket pair, or some suited connecting hands, and he maybe thought i was betting for deception to try and hit my hand later on the turn or river but why just call? anyway the 2 5s he assume I have a unlikely holding and when the Ace hit the river makes it look less likely like ive got an ace, but my betting would suggest i had or a pocket pair. I bet quickly on flop, paused for a few seconds on the turn on bet to look weaker, and waited just before time to push my whole stack like a pot buy. I just cant work out is reasons for calling, even though I tried to give him the tells of a weak holding.

Some awful posting mistakes:
- not using the hand converter from this forum.
- posting the results of the hand.

As for the hand, why did you bet the flop? What do you do if he raises you? I guess as the hand played out and the board double pairing your played worked in your favor but I would c/c flop, c/c turn and c/r river. If he checks behind at the flop, bet turn.

(1) Fold preflop. If you want to make a stand pick a better way to do it than by defending your big blind with a weak off-suit ace. Sounds like his aggressive play was getting to you, and this is exactly the kind of situation that plays directly into a good aggressive player's hand.

(2) Donk-potting the flop feels bad. I like Falc's line better, although instead of c/r the river I'd probably just lead (shove?) the river myself.

What's your plan if you get raised on the flop? What's your plan if the river is a blank? What if it's a heart? My guess is the only reason you got paid on the river is that the ace paired making it less likely in his mind that you held one, not to mention that the flush draw missed. He figured (correctly, IMO) that you were frustrated and were making a play at him with a weak hand, and didn't expect you to show up with an ace that often given the line you took (after all, why would you lead the flop with an ace here?)

reload preflop

fold>raise>call
