Game: .25/.50 Live No limit.

Hero(BTN): $125
(loosing image, been running pretty bad, a little spewy in spots, down $130 already)

Villain(SB): $230
(Villain has been playing pretty solid. Bought in for $50 and is at $230 now. Not the best player but is tight and tends to overbet strong hands. Has no concept of "only better hands are going to call you" with his overbets. Top pair top kicker is a real strong hand in his eyes.)

UTG limps, UTG+1 raises to 2, call, call...

Hero(BTN) raises to $8 with AA

Villain calls...everyone else folds.
(Villain has been calling bit bets pretty light.)

Flop is KJ8

Villain checks, Hero bets $17,

Without any thought Villain re-raises to $40 more. ($60 all day)

Hero....?

This has got to be an instant fist pump ship right?
His range to me is any set, 2 pair, AK, or pair witha flush draw....

Did villain intially limp in or did he cold call the raise? Would he 3bet AK or JJ pre?

If he has this range (I also added Q10cc) then you are a 37% dog.

It becomes a math problem. They math guys are currently busy and will be with you momentarily.

Villain was in SB and just cold called my $8 raise. I dont see any three betting with AK or JJ.

Pretty sure this is a fold if the above range you stated is correct.

Crunched the range you give Villain. Hero is a 45%/1.22:1 dog.

I think your range is a little narrow though. need to include KQ, QT, QT, 9T , 9T, 97, The only pair he can have with a flush draw is Kx. Some other gut-shots in the mix unlikely to raise though.

Against the wider range you are a 60%/1.50:1 favorite.

I meant i dont see any three betting preflop with AK, JJ.

I do see three betting here with top pair a lot post flop, esp AK. JJ not so much.

Your right my range is pretty narrow. He would do it with those hands as well.

Spoiler.

Spoiler:
I thought about it, had and kinda sensed he was over betting top pair or draw. I shoved, he called and he had KQ for top pair and a flush draw. I asked if he wanted to run it twice....he didnt know what that ment, lol, And i scooped the pot luckily dodging all his outs.

I had a lot of draws in his c/r'ing range. I felt we were well ahead. But, this is YOUR villain. YOU need to accurately assess his range and run the math yourself. It's the only way you get better.

The narrower his range, the worse off you are, obviously. It's really hard for any of us to be definitive about what YOU should do here w/o more information.
