With J9 V2 thinks: I have two pair and a open straight draw. I want to win this pot now.

I don’t think he is folding very often, like you said. And I don’t even think anyone on this forum is capable of making a bluff like this in a game on a flush completing river, nor is it wise. If he’s rarely folding a straight on a flush board getting 8:1, the bluff is punting money.

If he’s wide enough to have J9 you have a much easier decision to jam turn. Him check/folding river is a serious concern when he has that many bluffs in his range.

Basically:

By calling turn, you let him check/fold river when he misses

Whereas if you jam turn, he always calls with his draws.

You win an extra $80 very often when you have a serious equity edge versus his draws.

There are some downsides to jamming turn, e.g. there might be a situations where you could fold river even getting 8:1 or whatever amazing price, but those situations are relatively unlikely, and IMO they do not counteract the positive benefits of winning extra money from the draw part of his range.

I don’t really think he has that many J9 though. You should also give him J8s. Your turn equity isn’t anywhere close to 44% IMO.

Actually, I lied: he was Mossad and wished me a happy new year. Would that detail change how to play the hand? Writing and poker are best when concrete. Buzz Killington, generalized imagined characters belong with the nerds posting from their parent's basement to the online forum, not the live one.

I would suggest asking people to stop clogging 2 + 2 with worthless posts lacking concrete details about the players and the hand.

Dude, I knew you lied. But you're still wrong. V is a Palestinian posing as Mossad posing as retired Israeli SF. I may be able to be bluffed by 72o every third hand, but I can spot deep undercover spies every time.

If we're taking a poll, I'm in the "for" camp when it comes to added flair about villains. All our hands are vs people and the more descriptive the better, not just for devining V intentions but just to make the stories more interesting.
