This past week I made a trip down to my local casino playing 1/2 and made a lot of "bad" folds. I think the value of hands changes dramatically. Heres some examples.

I have AA on Qd Td 5d 7c

3 way, guy donks into me, I call with the A of d, turn he overbet shoves and I tank and call he shows a weak Q, I believe I made a bad call and was genuinely surprised.

I have K5dd in BB in a limp family pot. Flop is checked through, on the turn I make my flush but the board is paired (I cannot remember what the cards were, only the board texture) I bet 35 one guy calls, on river I bet again, guy puts me all in, I had about 150 left behind and folded and he showed pocket aces (wtf?).

I have AK on Ks 6s 8s woman bets flop, me and another guy call, turn is 8 pairing the board, she bets again, we both call, river is brick, she bets 100... I can't see what she is tripling barreling on this board that I beat so I fold and the other guy tank calls with KJ and its GOOD (WTF?). I also was sitting next to her and saw her legs shaking nervously. Didn't see what she folded.

Another hand I have TT small stack goes all in and its headsup between me and another dude. Flop is 465 he bets I call. Turn he goes all in (another overbet, wtf?) I fold and he shows pocket 77.

It seems people overvalue their hands and bet when they can only get called by worse. My internet poker mentality caused me to lose quite a bit of money I want to know if this kind of weird play is common.

An internet player who has admitted losing monies at live pokers!!!! It's pretty much common man. When you zero into those kind of players its like printing money. Listen to the latest deuce plays w/ Bart Hanson (ep. 91). You will hear everything you need to know in there.

Many live plyrs are just level 1 thinkers. They don't see the board as well. They just see that u called instead of raising so u are weak. U need to watch show downs and recognize who is playing what. otherwise go value town. In borderline situations Consider small raises as most opponents are straightforward. That is better than check calling two streets and folding. Or be prepared to check call down

I pretty much crushed the games on my trip but ran absurdly bad got my money in as an 80%+ favourite 4 times and lost (standard).

Only part of my game that was questionable is the folds I made. I know it is villian dependent but in general is calling down lighter +EV when you KNOW villian doesn't have a clue about relative hand strength (or can hand read at all for that matter).

Pretty common where I play. Big PF raises, and not limping if not in position does it for me. I would never be forced into a tough decision with a K5 because I would not play it in the first place. FWIW, an AA or AK would probably be a $12 - $20 PFR from me.

His tough decision had to do with his making a K-hig flush, so the K5 wasn't really relevant

Sounds like he played pretty well and didn't lose money. It's really not that common either. If you can beat online for a decent amount of money then you'll probably destroy any live game that is of equal blind limits, or a few above.

The 7s hand isn't bad, but yeah, for the most part a lot of live players are bad and overvalue hands. When online you'd have a bluff catcher, people are just value towning themselves all the time live.

You answered it yourself. In some games your going to want to call down lighter and in others you dont. My general rule of thumb is if I have a premium hand and I spike it or w/e then I am pretty much rolling with it unless their actions tell me I am no good. Basically play poker, right. The difference is online players and live players have their own ways of telling you when you are beat or good. Once you pick up on that you're good to go. Like you did here though you will be laying down a lot of the best hands in probably marginal spots. Its not neccessarily a bad thing, but of course some would argue it is because we need to capatilize on that .00001% of EV.

What I meant more so was that he admitted, "WOW I didn't realize that even though I probably know more than these people do I still have a lot to learn about live... and oh it caused me to lose some money"

Read the last part of his OP it clearly states he lost some money, whether he meant overall or just lost value, I only restated what he said. He probably meant he lost value. Most of the time people say lol at live I will crush it because I grind on the net... and I agree lol at live, but as we all know it doesnt mean because you play online that you'll crush it by playing the same way... really I was just trying to compliment OP for being honest.
