Hey,

I'd like to double check my spew today.

my image: carddead, young, mildly drunk (I'm not a pro..and I don;t usually drink), did not adjust to a loose table and tried to force my hand. Squeezed few times (no showdown, but lost every time), pushed FD once, c/r 998r flop to give up ott, won like 1 pot (lol this description sounds awesome). I think it might be obvious that I spend a lot of time in a casino though (various reasons). Lost one pretty big setup.

villain: unknown, in his 30s, talked like a reg...up a lot, def not a moron, but not a lot of showdowns. Raised pf fair bit and played back fair bit, but that might just be a heater.

the 998r c/r was into him. I also once led into QTx and had to give up ott.

~200bb eff, BB, T8s. Villain raises CO, I decide to flat (I did 3b fair bit and did not think that I have any fe). Unfortunately limpers fold. 795dd (I don't have bdfd). I don't like folding or c/r, so I lead, he raises, I call. Turn 9, I check, he bets ~40bb into ~70bb, I have ~165bb behind.

on a scale from 1 (worst idea ever, you're basically losing 165bb) to 10(ok), how does a jam fair?

thinking is to obv fold out overpairs, occasional bluffs, splits or FDs. Results oriented thinking is that all those hands check, perhaps with the exception of strong overpairs.

thanks

Fold pre, fold turn. You are playing really really bad. Get up from the table.

Correction, he's not folding anything out on any board with his image.

I think you've heard all you need to.

Without reading the other players comments Image is everything. If we have a poor image...which is what you've developed...its going to be impossible to bluff people with this image.

grunch: 3

i would normally fold this hand in early position. i think i would only play it in late position with a lot of players or maybe against a maniac who can't lay down hands.

i like the flop lead. not sure about the call but that depends on how big the raise was. assuming it was anything beyond a min raise (and maybe even with a min raise) it's probably a fold due to pot odds/implied odds unless you are willing to continue to try and push him off a hand. oesd doesn't have a lot of outs, especially if you're not holding 2 overs with it.

on the turn, if you were willing to try and use fold equity i think a lead is much better. if he still calls or raises then we can assume he's not just trying to push us off a hand or going for thin value. checking opens him to betting without really narrowing his range.

as for shoving... i think that looks like a more obvious bluff or semi-bluff then a smaller raise. i think you're just deep enough to be able to raise smaller.

but... i would probably fold it. wait for a hand. sucks to have a card dead day but it happens. the key is minimize the losses on those days and not tilt (easier said than done).

good luck.

Your image is an not appropriate for this bluff to work. You've been aggro and forcing hands and not winning any of them, which means he's going to correctly think you are FOS and put you pretty much exactly on what you have: a draw. He's snap calling if he has anything (and the fact he raised multiple limpers preflop and has bet the flop and turn suggests he has an overpair).

With an image like this we unfortunately just have to patiently wait to hit a hand (or a monster draw) and then go to value town against everyone who still thinks we are FOS.
