Being an MTT player, when i play live cash vs your typical stationy live players i'm not too sure what preflop approach i should be taking with the above hands.

Assuming 100bb stacks, $2-5nl and about 6 players being very call happy preflop (so raised multiway pots are super common), what lines to you take with the below situations from which positions? These are some examples of spots i've encountered.

1- AK in MP, 3 limpers to you, 2 players with very high VPIP's with position on you to act.

2- AK/JJ UTG.

3- AQs in BB, 5 limps to you.

4 - JJ in MP2 facing a few limpers and one 4xBB raise from player in MP1 who has a wide raising range, and with players to act who will happily flat call some 3-bets with a wide range.

I think advice on the above situations would help me get an idea, but if you have any advice generally for live FR cash that'd be great. Looking to play much more in the Summer vacation before school since it's so soft.

The main issue i thought might be bad was inflating pots oop with these hands since they're always multiway. Vs live players doesn't most of the money come from postflop play? So would it be ok to limp behind AK/AQ and just bet heavily if you hit, while saving money for the times you don't?

Lol @ the responses. But seriously, raise is best (you can flat 4). The skill is in figuring out the right raise size.

The only one that seems marginally debatable is #4.

i think 3 is checkable in certain live games, particularly ones where people are liable to limp/rr you a ton or ones where youre guaranteed to have the entire table call your raise.

1 - pop it up to 45 or so, basically whatever number you feel it will take to not have a multi-way pot

2 - depending on the table, i usually open utg AK for 4-5 bbs and jj for 5

3 - this is a very annoying situation live and most of the time isn't a spot worth raising. if you're comfortable making a raise big enough to iso a limper, maybe 2, you can go ahead and try but not too much good can come with aq oop in a multi way pot so most of the time its spewing.

4 - if you're table is as loose as you make it seem and will "happily call" 3bets, probably just call.

1. Raiise, the value of top pair with AK goes down so much in limped pots.
2. Raaise, how is this a question?
3. Is possible to check in a very specific tables. You should be able to articulate to yourself why you are exactly checking and how you can play it better in a limped pot vs. a raised pot. If you can't do this (it should be about 80 % of the time, typically requires a couple of guys who are willing to put money in two streets with TPNK in limped pots), raaise!
4. Call is a decent option here. You have the position now and post shouldn't be too hard to play.

The fact that you asked about the first two scenarios makes tournament players.
