Literally first hand after i sat down. effective stack is $118 at 1/2 game.

Preflop: 5 limpers, hero on BB with 68 checked.

Flop($12): 875, hero bet $6 and got one caller in LP.

Turn($24): 8, hero bet $15, villain raised to $35, hero called.

River($94): 4, hero bet $25, villain raised to $75 and is all in, hero...

I put villain on 8x probably with a better kicker. He is unlikely to raise with flush draw on the turn since most live players are passive (or they usually tend to raise with a draw on the flop). I am looking to get value from 8x hand with the river straight. I think it is a fold when i got raised on the river...smells like a boat. anyone?

Boat looks a lot more likely than a straight or flush, but you're basically repping a straight or flush OTR so he's never bluffing you... the only problem is whether or not he's one of those guys who says "oh well I only have $50 behind might as well shove!" With A8 or something, but this is why I don't like the river bet. IMO, the rationale behind flatting the turn is because we feel he has bluffs or we're not sure whether we want to commit that, but you contradict the merit of that turn line when you lead the river here... essentially, our hand strength has not changed a whole lot.

i think in this spot you have to call but don't expect to be ahead very much more then 1/3 of the time, i'm not convinced villain flopped 2 pair and turned a boat because villain seems like he is winning to re raise and probably would have raised the flop bet had he flopped 2 pair, most likely here i think he has something like 69 or 76 of diamonds.

I agreed with you on the turn that we are either behind 8x or wanting him to barrel bluffs. However, on the river, i feel like our hand strength did change since we now beat 8x and can probably get value from it, i don't want him to check behind with it. therefore, is bet/fold the best line here?

There's too much out there that beats our little straight. I don't have a problem check/calling this; I would rather get to showdown than get blown out of the pot.

As played, I call, hope he has A8, and get the rebuy money ready.
