Yeah, but it says $52k a year and could help with moving up the data chain

you're smart enough to know that's not true.

Yup, a lot for a chess livestream albeit I don't watch many of them.

hundreds of chess vids with millions of views.

this is a good one of carlsen being a gangsta:

Surely even the most pessimistic chat regs think a solid grinder can make $52k running nuetral EV playing 2/5 full time?

Only bringing it up since you clearly enjoy poker man.

I know at least 15 people personally who graduated in May 2020 that got $70k+. So it's out there. Especially when you went to UMich. And the class of people I went to high school with ('17) mostly still have a year left so it's not really even a good representation.

What have your friends been getting? Is it really sub 60k for the average top school econ major rn?

Nothing wrong with a starter job at $52K/year in an area with decent COL. Anyone thinking going to a good school guarantees higher automatically in all fields is lol. Particularly in this economy.

I honestly don't really enjoy Pokerbros/playing on my phone that much. It feels more like a job than fun. There isn't 2/5 more than once a week there, but the thought did cross my mind if Detroit ever opens back up.

Go into law enforcement so you can make change from within.

i assume this was directed at me since I referenced UMich. It's not about guarantees. But assuming you went to UMich and were near the top of your class (why wouldn't you be) and studied Econ you absolutely should expect way more than $52k.

but I'm more so speaking from the lens of a Class of 2020 career fish with friends/classmates who have overwhelmingly gotten solid offers than an adult with perspective.

but apart from basketball, I've associated myself with mostly nerds so.. I don't know about 67o's circle

So banking isn't offering a position and you have no clue what position they would be offering if they were offering one.

Oh, and White Castle supplies sliders for lunch every day but you won't eat them because you want to be a skinny little ***** for the rest of your life.

You're like 4 years ahead of RtP on figuring this out. But LoL at going to Detroit. You don't want to go to that **** hole if you don't have to.

1.) What you should expect is relative to COL. DC and NYC have starting salaries much higher on average for obvious reasons, but relative pay is about the same.

2.) A BA/BS in economics is not anything special. Arguably far less marketable in the short term than accounting.

3.) There will be exceptions, usually due to connections.

To my understanding 67o hasn't even been offered yet. In this market a lot of grads will be accepting below what they would have thought 6 months ago.

DC- well I mean... it depends on how good he is? lol

Even with a $70k post rake goal to more than make up for the benefits, stability, and all the other godly benefits of a job (sarcasm)-- over 2,000 hours that is $35/hr or 7bb/hr.

I'll let you tell me what % of the best 2/5 players at their table around the country are making that. 90?

to be clear, I'm not saying being a poker pro is a desirable job for most but this just happens to be a poker forum and 67o likes poker a lot it seems.

Spoiler:
I'm prob a litttttttle (a lot) biased tho
