Would qualify as third degree murder in Minnesota:
(a) Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.

In all honesty I'm of two minds.
On one hand, I'm seriously considering joining the protests tonight because, as I'm sure is no surprise to anyone here, I agree with it.
On the other, I live over south and while I wouldn't have expected to be in danger although I'm about a mile west of the 3rd precinct (the one that burned), things also moved into the uptown area which is just a few blocks north, so I'm clearly at risk, although in a heavily residential area, no bars or anything *very* close.
I might do both...join in tonight and find shelter out of the city for the weekend.

ETA: will definitely post pics for everyone's entertainment if i do go out.

Definitely
Denver PD was using tear gas, rubber bullets, and pepper spray on the crowds at the protests last night. People weren't even looting, they seem to be inciting the unrest.

There seems to be a decent amount of that...
Also, there's video of the guy who broke the windows at the AutoZone that was the flashpoint for the looting to begin... some decent evidence that he's actually a St. Paul cop, but i can't confirm with any certainty.

Not sure how to embed fb stories lol

Participate in the show of support, but still stay safe, BMF.

Folks are under tremendous stress already with the pandemic... I feel like we may be getting close to the "last straw" type scenarios here.

Thanks, Lapi. I'm too selfish to put myself in too much risk lol

Interesting. When this happened here post Freddie Gray verdict, prob 95% of the issues were contained to a 6-8 square block radius. Doesn't make it any better but the scale of it sometimes doesn't translate well on TV

Wrote my first Wikipedia article from scratch over the last couple of days. What a PITA! The markup language is archaic as ****. I felt like I was writing a webpage in the early 90s. Don't think I'll be making a habit of this, but I felt that it was a travesty that Major General Frederick Martin didn't have a page.

After seeing he was born in a city called "Liberty," I can already tell he's a good guy

Markup Or Markdown?

Was it a .md file?

It's become wildly spread out. From the initial point of impact, so to speak, west and north, then NE into St. Paul, and rumors of it going west into the suburbs.

IDK what kind of file it is, as it's done in their editor. It's kind of like HTML, but not exactly. Like a reference is <ref>reference in here</ref>, but italics aren't <ital>stuff in italics</ital>. Instead its two apostrophes with a space in between them like ' 'stuff in italics' ' Real pain in the ass, imo.

Given how annoying they were to include, count yourself lucky. I definitely wasn't going to include more than one source for a given fact, given how much time each reference took to edit. It's actually 24 footnotes, but a couple of sources got used multiple times.

Interestingly, the hardest thing to find was his wife's name, as she just shows up as "Mrs. Frederick Martin" in almost all of the newspaper articles. I actually had to find her grave to get a first name, and then work back from there on a search of wedding announcements to find her maiden name.

I always hated that subsuming of a woman's identity stuff on general principles, but I hadn't considered how much of a pain it was for an historian.
