If they are having classes remotely, there will b no one on teh campus. This means no athletes will b on campus.

So what I'm hearing is that we are finally stop pretending that major college sports are played by students?

Interesting. Classes are remote, and I still see athletes every day on campus.

I get that you're saying it's different when the semester is remote from the start, but I don't see what's wrong with saying "classes are remote, but football players will report to campus because we have a season to play."

I would say have the season anyways, even if they're having classes remotely, or delayed until January.

If a state is still “closed” can’t imagine they’re going to consider a sport ‘essential’. even if a state does, what happens when they have to travel to a state that does not consider sports essential?

I do think colleges should continue. Can they not just setup professors to do remote classes? Keep students around campus. No holiday breaks. No family visits. No bars opened. Hell they'd probably get more studying done than ever before.

He's going to be out of a job pretty soon.

I don't know what this means. I've had plenty of football and basketball players in my classes. Granted they're always the worst students (unless they walked on) and help with the class curves, but they're in class and doing assignments, taking exams, etc. nonetheless.

We have enough teams in Texas that our colleges don't have to travel out of state to play games. That being said, I do agree that sissy states like Michigan will definitely:

Because they wouldn't feel right about foosballers who didn't actually go to class? You know they've been social distancing the players for years now??

I don't have the time to go back and forth like I usually do (well, I guess I never had that time to begin with), but they'll work something out. Schefter said they would and all signs are pointing towards it.

I was actually going to post the thing about WWE being deemed essential, thanks for doing that for me DC, but no thanks on the Schefter hate. You probably just hate on him because he went to Michigan.

But yeah, every governor should rule sports essential and just do it. Or just open up the economy altogether!

She isn't going to though. The Big 10 is screwed. ALL of the 3star+ recruits that would have gone to those schools will be coming to Texas and the SEC instead. Big 10 won't be remotely competitive for years.

Pro sports happening? Yes but without fans and in isolation likely.

College sports? LOL not a chance for so many reasons but mostly liability risk that the schools won’t want to take.

I also think that college sports are unlikely for the next 8-12 months...

...but considering the amount of $$$ the colleges make on the sports teams, it will be a very, very difficult decision to stop the 2020-2021 NCAA season. I will not be surprised at all if they go forward with the season in some fashion.

IMO, I think pro sports are easier to stop than college sports.

For the first time in my life I agree with something you have said.

Alright, I'll be back in an hour. Again, I don't have time to go back and forth.

i think with some acrobatics involved could probably do three so you'd have to ask for more than just one friend to find out

Pro sports make more money than college sports. Pro sports are businesses so it's far more important to them that their sport runs. College sports can sit out indefinitely and they will never go out of business.

It's much easier for pro sports to pivot on something like this and they are far better equipped to handle this situation in a safe manner. Furthermore they don't have the liability of having kids (who don't even get paid) continue to play.

"Kids" is subjective.

I've heard lots of talk about college athletics programs going bankrupt if they didn't have a football season.

I know as always though, you have all of the answers, and it doesn't matter if I look outside and see green grass, because you know what the real color of grass is.

I don't believe you grasp how much money is spent at the D1 level. The primary revenue streams are via football and basketball tickets, donations, and TV contracts.

**** it. I am so over this. Open **** up and let the olds and compromised stay the **** home. Everyone else live your ****ing life.

I think you underestimate how important is the financial support derived from the sports teams for the colleges.

Pro sports are just like any other entertainment business. They come and go...
