Question to all. If you had to go to lunch with 3 pentards, last or present, who would they be and why?

I don't care much for nonsense so that eliminates a bunch of people. I think the pool of people I would go with potential would include the table we had at Woodberry that one night. So some combination of:
Skipper
Big Head Rutgers Fan
Miami
Gatsb
Spoiler:
I'll just be nice and include STFU Z
Sprinkle in Garlick to keep order and talk about good music and the foreigner to talk about min cashes with his funny accent. Squid too for the lullz stories. DCFT too...damn this is hard
Any thoughts on studying with Poker Snowie? Being able to play against a bunch of near-GTO bots to solidify my baseline competence is appealing. Going from there I'm guessing I'd be more comfortable understanding what exploitative adjustments I need to make.

There have been some criticisms of it in some spots where the plays might be an anomoly. So I would just watch out for that. But it seems they do update and make improvements. A lot of people seem to like it.
I think things like Snowie and PIo are definitely great tools, but it's important to think through the recommendations and how they arrive at it. Blindly following the advice I think can be a little dangerous and not that great to improve your play overall.
Much like the players who blindly memorize chess theory that get so far, but when they get taken to part of the game tree that is unfamiliar to them they get crushed because they haven't thought through why certain tactics are correct to begin with.
I had snowie for a few years and found it impractical for my 2/5 and 2/5/10 games.
Sizings recommendations were too small and it didn’t seem to get/help with multi-way post flop situations, which are the norm here
Interesting. Didn't expect you to be a snowie user. Did you learn a lot though, like "oh ****, I guess I should be this hand," or the opposite, "oh ****, I've been over bluffing this type of situation?"

I know he does a bunch of mdma but feely is all about the snow.
My POV is that there are many many better ways to study cash game poker as a rev/serious rev player at the 2/5 and even 5/10 level than using Snowie
Would expanding on what things you think are more effective. Right now I'm just reading books, but I think I need practice thinking through individual spots. My goal is to win consistently in 1/3 then get up to doing well in 5/10 as a serious rec.
I have lol sample size in 1/3 at the moment. Like down 7 buy ins over 200 hours.
1 million per cent don't use Snowie if you're not beating 1/3 yet.
focus on fundamentals of tight, aggresive play, practice a lot, review your hands and learn from them, be disciplined, get better at understanding the tendencies of your player pool and individual villains and work through how to exploit them
Been reading this for a while, gotta jump in, this seems like a fun group.
Regarding solvers for 1/2, the biggest thing I had to recognize when I started playing live (which wasn't a super long time ago - many years of online and then nothing for many years after Black Friday) is that everything the books said were wrong. No one one plays like that at the lower levels. Once I realized that I had to play the game with the players who were there, I became successful. Reading the players and adjusting at your table is most important thing after knowing ABCs. That means giving action to get action. Going along with multi-way action. Participating in the table vibe, whatever that may be, and it also changes. Being social. Sometimes showing when you "shouldn't." I have even lost a hand on purpose, not often, but I have. Lots of stuff that goes against what the experts say.
Best cover band ever: Grateful Dead. Their cover of "I Fought the Law" ranks up there with worst cover ever, I admit, as someone mentioned. But overall, best cover band ever, especially Dylan covers. Yeah, Hendrix did "All Along the Watchtower" the best, but Jerry Garcia's versions are right up there. I am also willing to bet that most people have no idea that "Morning Dew" is a cover.
First concert: Crazy World of Arthur Brown, 1967, Brown pioneered "theatrical rock/psychedelia." Best concert is tied: Grateful Dead, Denver 1973, or maybe one festival in Hawaii in 1970 with Steve Miller Band opening for Quicksilver Messenger Service and Janis Joplin. At that time, my favorite bands were Quicksilver and Jefferson Airplane and I loved Janis. Never heard of Steve Miller. Steve Miller Band blew me away. Listen to his early stuff if you think he is pop. Also agree that "We Built This City" is one of worst songs ever.
Rock Hall of Fame: It is a joke and the fact these bands aren't already in it demonstrate why it is a joke.
--MC5 (original punk band)
--Kraftwerk (prototype electronic music band)
--T Rex (psychedelic pop that was so much more)
The Beatles were great, although the person that never gets any credit is Donovan, who heavily influenced The Beatles. GOAT is still Dylan, although he does suck live. My fav of all time will always be Donovan due to time and place and my formative music years.
Oh yeah, for recent music, best band to come along in decades are these guys. This year I saw Dylan, Dead and Company, Phish, and The Hu. Give the video a chance to develop.
Did IRTM not get lucky? Sure seems to me like he did.
I figured he was cooked when OMC flatted the 70bbs.

Good news is that the semester is over, so once I finish this kitchen remodel, I should have time to play more again.
But pre-Xmas games suck and your run good will be dragging a bunch of $17 pots.

Quality post and couldn't agree more that tossing out hard rules and mixing it up with table dynamics is key to low stakes live success
Also, for sharing youtube just grab the last digits after "="

Thank you for both compliment and the youtube tips. I think having fun playing leads to also making money playing. So, I embrace the social aspect of it and that is big for me because I am very introverted. Once I stopped being as serious, it started being both more fun and profitable, although profitable for me is a pretty low bar, I am basically happy if I can cover my trip or put a dent in it. I live too far from a casino to consider doing this for anything other than fun a few times a year.
Best: Bob Mould in a theater of about 500. Played unplugged and then said "You want to rock these last few ****ing songs?" Plugged in and just destroyed
2nd Best: The Connells played a bar when I was in college after their actual concert in the student center. There were maybe 150 people there and they just jumped on stage and played 8-10 songs
Worst: The Wiggles with my kids
Next show: Just bought tix to see Alanis and Garbage next summer
Most want to see: Will never be able to see Bowie or Talk Talk which are two of my all time faves. So I'll say Kate Bush though she doesn't tour.

I guess if I have to pick 3 only it would be:
Skiptard
Randy
Feelers
Hurts I didn’t make top 3, bruh. I will be in the flesh at Live all this weekend and Mon/Tues if you want to gamble. I’ll even pick up Woodberry the next time Skip is in town IF I win 2k and you show your face at Live.
Gatsb you, prairie and Gilmour are (I think) about the only chat thread regs or semi regs I haven’t met. Given you talk with Slim, I can’t be certain you’re good people but I’m willing to give it a shot
Worst chat thread reg lunch companions would be an interesting vote.
Some people who others have gotten cranky about over the years, such as 11t, Zollie and others have all proven to be good people irl.
There’s only one chat reg who I would be delighted never to see again and he’s not somebody who is currently in here. And a few others who I never met but I’m guessing would be total tools

Giltrucci dropping by to open my post account in the new chat thread (whaaaat).
