Years ago I had a 12U bball team we were taking out of town for a state tournament. I told them we were heading down there to "kick butt and chew bubble gum...but we weren't bringing any bubble gum." Then I spent what seemed like an hour trying to explain that statement to the smartest kid on the team (kid in question just graduated from med school at Vanderbilt).

Brag: my 8th grade team made it to the semifinals of their holiday tournament.

Beat: lost by 20.

Variance: same team beat these boys by 60 last year (I was not the coach) so we are improving. Upset a team that beat them by 35 last season to make the semis.

Bad day to be a 9ers fan...

But ironically, great day to be a Find fan.

Meh. They played a great team very close. I don't like what it does to homefield advantage races, but I never thought that would even be a consideration back at the beginning of the season.

that was as good a loss as you'll ever have. losing by a field goal to the hottest team in the League on a 1pm east coast kick off in a rainstorm.

Was listening to the SF game on the way to the bay area casino. by the time I got there all of the energy had been sucked out of the place, slowplaying top set turned out to be totally wrong.

Welp... looks like the Pats are fresh out of ideas for the offense. O-line looked OK, but yeah, just double-team Edelman and score > 25points and you too can beat the pats.

Lol at the folks thinking that the Bills have a chance at beating Baltimore.

Is it possible the NFC East is won by a team with a losing record?

LOL Cowboys

While the 2015 Carolina Panthers are the NFL’s best team, with a current record of 13-0, last season’s version of the team left much to be desired. Finishing 7-8-1 that season, Carolina suffered through a frustrating six-game slide that left them win-less for nearly two months. However, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons weren’t impressive during that timespan either, leaving the door wide open for a December run. The Panthers won all four of their games in December 2014, which proved to be the difference between the 7-9 Saints and 6-10 Falcons.

They won the NFC South for a second straight season, becoming the first back-to-back champion in the short history of the division. Carolina went on to have playoff success with Cam Newton under center as well as a solid defense, beating the battered Arizona Cardinals by a score of 26-17. They fell to the eventual conference champion Seattle Seahawks in a hard-fought game in the divisional round. With their 13-0 start this season and their 4-0 finish last season, Carolina has won 17 straight games, indicating that they might become one of the best division winners in league history this season.

When you compare the worst division winners in NFL history, the 2010 Seattle Seahawks seem to take the cake. With a record of 7-9, the Seahawks became the first team in league history to reach the playoffs with a losing record (the 2014 Panthers did it too). Despite losing three straight games in December to bring their record to 6-9, Seattle still had a chance in a winner-take-all matchup against the St. Louis Rams in the final game of the season. In an ugly contest, the Seahawks survived and went on to create one of the greatest postseason moments in NFL history.

Facing off against the New Orleans Saints in the wild card round, nobody gave Seattle a chance. The Saints had just won the Super Bowl the previous season and were expected to make another run at the big game. Playing at home though, Seattle used the historic “Beast Quake” run by Marshawn Lynch to clinch the win. They went on to give the Chicago Bears a battle in the divisional round, where they came up short. Still, it was a pretty incredible run for a 7-9 ball club.

Yeah they are really missing Gronk.

Have not seen the Bills much at all. Not worried tho. Just hope they aren't peaking too early. Only team that worries me if they keep playing like this is Chiefs. They can score a **** ton of points.

Of course it is a week to week league but winning @Seattle, NE, Houston, @LAR, SF (with @ lol Cin thrown in for hahahas) in successive weeks is pretty ****ing solid. Frankly, yesterday's game was the only one that the result was ever in question.

it is mathematically possible for the NFC East to finish:
Eagles: 6-10
Cowboys: 6-10
Skins: 5-11
Giants: 5-11

so, yes, it is possible that the NFC can still be won by a sub .500 team

This is how the above could happen:

obviously if the Skins were to beat the Giants, it would be three (3) 6-10 teams and one (1) 4-12 team, which would be fun also. i'm all for complete anarchy at this point.

It would be typical Cowboys football to finish 6-10 and set a new low record-wise and still host a home playoff game. Pretty sure they have the tiebreakers to do it.

GO Cowboys!

@ Berge: I won't clutter up this thread with limp/reraise strat cuz only on page 3. But I ~don't raise in the HJ-. I do ok but I definitely don't crush. I'm positive there's other ways to win too.

This one is for Slim. Saw about the worst stack off I've seen last night. I think it's limped 4 ways, maybe 5ways. KT766r runout that is checked down by everyone till the river, so at most a $15 pot by the river. SB noob bets $15. BB woman who doesn't really get out-of-line raises to $50. Dude who just has a tendency to go off the rails (main reason I've moved to this table) raises to $100. Noob folds. BB now goes $300. Dude ships ~$650. Again, pot was $15 when we arrived on the river. SB calls and tables 66 and drags $1330 pot. Dude laments his bad luck and tables 98 before calling it a night.
