I wonder how Californians feel about their votes likely not even mattering in the Democratic Primary.

There are other religions that push this idiocy but the atheists in the Western world have mostly been influenced by Christianity.

Texas is close to being a swing state. California can't possibly be a swing state anytime in the foreseeable future so the only influence Californians can have is in the Democratic Primary and based on early #s the state is going heavily for Bernie when it appears he is probably drawing dead for the nomination (albeit, those are early numbers and it's already looking like Biden is doing better in California than what it initially looked like).

According to CNN, Biden has overtaken Bernie in TX due to small counties with 15 to 100 votes. CNN completely ignores the fact that two of the largest counties in the state Tarrant County (Fort Worth) and Collin County (Plano/Frisco) both switched from Bernie to Biden.

One geographically large county in Maine is purple. CNN guy asks why in this county is Bloomberg having success. Other CNN guy says it's a good question that he can't answer.

Vote counts:

Bloomberg - 9 votes
Biden - 8 votes

I'm too deep in now I think. I was actually watching Fox News but they lost me during a commercial. On election nights I generally watch CNN the most because I like their map. It would be helpful if the commentators actually knew a little about the places on the map though.

Get Pence to pray it away.

Now we are back off track. You are welcome.

Over 90% of Americans believe in god or a higher power. 92% of the members of the highly prestigious National Academy of Sciences do not. Similar statistics hold true for other prestigious scientific bodies around the world.

There are smart people on both sides of the issue; anyone who is part of the NAS is likely much smarter than me, but that result is interesting. Take it for whatever it’s worth.

I just assembled my first window screens. I've needed some new ones for over a decade and dreaded actually doing the work but it's actually not too difficult.

This is a great article for getting a balanced perspective on Corona. Puts the numbers and the risks in perspective

I thought Biden mixing up his sister and his wife tonight was cute. Probably the most important thing to come out of tonight though was "Let dairy die!"

i'm all about the just chill everyone we got this under control but am aware it could be really bad for the elderly enough to appropriately scare this thread of olds
Well there's no rational reason to oppose euthanasia. Evolution is a ***** for those who aren't the fittest but the herd is stronger as a result. Now Spain being a Catholic nation was able to infect as much as 1/5th the global population without the advantage of air travel whereas officially Atheist China will probably net a few thousand in fixed locales. Another new religion that has a long way to go if they want to catch up.

I was responding to BMF posting that someone said something along the lines of God bringing this disaster as a result of people not following instructions or whatever.

Now that is a ridiculous statement and deserves to be made fun of.

At which point you came in and got offended.

I'm not bashing him because he's Christian. I'm bashing him because he said something very stupid.
But BMF was trolling and you were motivated by group hate. Picking out something that sounds bad and pointing at the Wikipedia tag-category is the essence of chauvinism. When an Atheist says something mean it's standard prejudice to say I just gotta call out the pagans for what they say. Reason isn't a safe space for evil. Or rather when I do it it's purely for truth not because I think atheism is a religion for douche bags.

Lulz at the boldness with which the atheists claim they "know".

Religion is belief... Not certainty. This concept is frequently hard to get your mind around.

The only sense to make of tragedies like this is that terrible things can happen to perfectly innocent people. This understanding inspires compassion.

Religious faith, on the other hand, erodes compassion. Thoughts like, 'this might be all part of God’s plan,' or 'there are no accidents in life,' or 'everyone on some level gets what he or she deserves' - these ideas are not only stupid, they are extraordinarily callous. They are nothing more than a childish refusal to connect with the suffering of other human beings. It is time to grow up and let our hearts break at moments like this.
Religion erodes compassion... Interesting.
