Yeah, nice track G!

Think all of my 2010+ Sufjan Steven iPod tracks are off Carrie & Lowell, with the exception of:

Tonya Harding song reminds me of BNL's "When You Dream."

Here's my fave Lord Huron. Somewhat different sound, bit more old-school country influence, if Echo and the Bunnymen did country.

Lots of roots rock sounds, but a lot of variety too, especially on the Strange Trails album. Their other albums are less varied, so they get less replay from me.

True Love Waits, such a great song. They use the good version in that video.
I heard a different I think was like an official track version. It was overly produced and made the song a lot worse.

I remember Paranoid Android being one of my favorite music videos for awhile.
Ok Computer I think is one of their best albums.

Smashing Pumpkins was always my favorite from that era/genre though. I'm biased though because I was in a SP cover band in H.S.

Is Billy the only one left from the original group?

I stopped following them after Adore. But I was a super hardcore fan from Gish thru Mellon Collie.

I can't believe Jimmy Chamberlin is still alive.

So a quint cake might be a really well done yellow cake. That doesn't mean I won't like it better if it's just as well done but has chocolate chips in it (I won't actually, but just as an example), but that's not because the first one was uninteresting. It's because the second one added something that some people are going to like and others think distracts from the quintessential yellow cake.

I agree that Black Butte doesn't have anything in particular that makes it stand out. I just think it executes the concept of American Porter pretty perfectly. If I'm in the mood for a porter, then it's possible the finest "nothing unusual about it" version of the style out there. If I'm in the mood for an Imperial barrel-aged porter, obv Black Butte would be a disappointment.
I'd say that Guiness sets the baseline for stout-porter, unless there's a distinctly American style.

lol splitting up into tiny divisions. It' jut a way to squeeze out interest in fringe .500 teams.

Tales from the Crypt was on tv back then. I used to say Billy C voiced the Cryptkeeper.

Are we just playing "rile up the beer snob" now?

There is no such thing as "stout-porter." They are distinct styles that are both dark. Guinness is (imo) the quintessential dry Irish stout. You could even make an argument that dry Irish is the default stout style, so it's the quintessential stout.

As for porters, Black Butte for the American style that is roastier and more similar to stouts than the British version, and Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter for the British version, which leans a bit more towards the brown ale side of things, and tend to be a little funkier than the American version.

There's a good rundown of beer styles here.

Sorry, shall I post more? Just ordered a keg of an Imperial Red that is also highly hopped. Kind of a mash-up of an Irish Red and an Imperial IPA. Should be interesting.

In case you weren't trolling, my last post was a response to DMW's above about Guinness being the quintessential "stout-porter."

Interested in your thoughts on Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout. I go back and forth on it. It's good in small doses, imo.

Been a long time since I had it. IIRC, it's a hoppy Imperial Stout, yeah? I don't really like a lot of hops in stouts, though an Imperial can handle more than most.

Again, IIRC, it's a nice sipper on a cold day. I'd never get a keg of it, and rarely drink more than a pint in any one day. It's just too big a beer.

Lotsa bitter coffee, roasted malt, caramel, and toffee. I can really only enjoy that in small doses anyway. Decently masks the alcohol content tho.

Oh he is? For some reason I thought he had left. I wonder if I'd still like their recent stuff.

I remember going to the Virgin records store in Chicago and bought every single thing that said Smashing Pumpkins on it, Even their video Vieuphoria.
Had great acoustic versions of Cherub Rock and Mayonaise.

Man, I was in the most absurd 1/2 game last night. Was in for 1900 lol And was down 1600 at one point. There was at least 10k at the table.
I was opening to 25 and getting 5+ callers literally every time. 3b to 65+ getting called 3+ ways.

Won a $1500 pot with AK on Kd4d9s9c2d. Shipped 300ish on turn snapped off in two spots thought I was dead when diamond hit otr or someone had 9 but nah they both mucked lol.
Wound up cashing out a loser 450 when the game broke after getting it in against all in 3 way against two people who shoved blind and losing. I had KQ one guy had JJ other guy had J3o lol.

Thanks for the feedback on my question yesterday everyone who responded.
I was too busy being tilted during a card session to respond.
Considering putting 5K or so down on upcoming baseball season.
Should be easier $ than running KK into AA every other session imo.
I definitely believe that it’s way harder than a decade ago.
Would be awesome to have some whiz like Holzhauer in my corner.
I’m pretty sure baseball is his specialty.

I’m not really a fan either. But I’m a big fan of sours, not many like ‘em. I went to South Korea in May and their domestic beer is terrible, but craft was amazing. Went to a sour beer only bar lol. Best sours I’ve had.

Why did I miss out on all this $ that should have been easy a decade ago...wtf.
Btw, did you end up deciding on and purchasing your acoustic upgrade?
