I’ve calmed down a lot the past 18 months on the really big nights tbh.
Albeit the medium sized nights have gone way up
I'm in for multiple medium nights. Just don't need a trip where you and the others roll out for one night and then leave me stranded at the 1/2 table in Harrah's for the rest of my trip while you fools recuperate.

Otherwise known as the DeathcabforTootie?
Well I’ll never do that, but if I’m playing a $1500
+ event the next day I’m gonna be getting my beauty sleep
Squido you check out the US Open golf at Torrey Pines? They are on some Pacific bluff in soCal. Parasailing off the bluff, all these golf shots have para sailers going lazily by back and forth along the cliff line. What a view.

And happy Father's day all!
Hey Lurshy. Torrey pines is a very famous flying site. It is ossum cuz the constant onshore breeze makes for consistent flying conditions. The wind hits the cliff face and goes vertical creating wonderul "ridge lift" and you can boat around in what is known as the lift band and ride those currents for as long as you like. I have not flown there in over 25 years. The houses there are amazing and there is a nude beach below. So the views are in fact spectacular.
Flying geek note: Parasailing is the thing they tow behind the boat (not designed to be steered). Paragliding is a steerable soarable ram air wing.
Speaking of flying SPC and my Paramotors finally arrived from Europe and are in SLC. There was a long delay but we finally got em. Putting those bad boys together tomorrow. Super duper excited
Yeah the 2nd one. How do launch, run off the cliff?
couple of kinds o launches. When the wind is strong enough for it to be "soarable" we do a reverse launch where we are facing the wing while in the laminar air flow zone (which is a horizontal airflow) back behind the lift band. In this video I have already inflated the wing and am checking everything to make sure I am g2g with no tangles or anything. Before I can launch I need to make sure traffic is clear. So I hang back and make sure no one is in the way. When I have an open window I announce launching and go.
All aircraft create wakes you can see here that the person decided to make a turn right in front of my launch spot when I am getting ready to go at around :48 and wakes the piss outta me. THere are a ton of rookies at this site so I am ready for people to do silly shyt like that and do not take it personally and have zero problem recovering the collapse it causes cuz I am always waiting for them to do sumpin stoopid. Then I tiptoe off and turn to stay in the lift band.
