i've been very fortunate with dfs, there's a lot of much smarter and more capable people than myself who've dropped out - which is very confusing because i can't understand why i'm able to succeed while they decided to call it quits and sometimes makes me wonder when the rug will get pulled out from under my feet as well - i'll periodically have a really bad downswing and each time that happens will think "ah it's finally happened, the market has caught up to me"
in 2020 got just shy of six figures in profit and on pace to exceed it this year knock on wood
unsure what i'd make if i went back into poker, will definitely dip my toes in a bit in the future but realistically think it'd be an incredible struggle to exceed 50k a year and that'd be after many months of study - i'm talking online though, i still think i could comfortably move to vegas tomorrow and beat 5-10 so long as i table selected - how much i could beat it though remains to be seen
I think if i focused on dfs i could proabably boost income by 15-50% i definitely lose a lot of ev not being online to enter more contests, not having enough time on to spend paying attention to news or not having the time to improve and backtest alterations to my projection models - at least once a week i'll be afk when news comes out that a player was scratched late or a game was rained out where if i were there looking at my monitor in that 5 minute stretch i would have caught it and fixed my rosters in time
also, dfs is really hard to break into because whether or not you play a $1 contest or a $500 contest, it's you 2 other randos and 7 of the best players in the world, there's no bunny slopes available, the scalability means the top guys are literally in every contest so most people just get destroyed when they start not knowing they're up against 5 of the best in the world in their 10 man $1 contest
imagine sitting down at nl2 and it's the same exact pool of players you find at nl20k
