Paid one (he hit a gutshot), checked through the other two.

Hey JayKon how would you characterize yourself as a player? TAG/LAG/nit etc

I like to play a passive aggressive style. I have a tendancy to value bluff a little too often. And on rivers I like to call for thin value quite a bit. I tend to be an habitual flat barreler which may be a leak.

thoughts?

Mostly TAG, however, others have defined me differently. It depends on how my cards are running, who I'm playing against, the nature of the game and how well I'm reading my opponents.

I've been called a nit and a loose cannon. Yesterday, I was mostly a TAG and a bit nitty, but a game last week I was defiantly running and reading well enough that I was defiantly in LAG mode.

My favorite hand was when I called a big river bet with A high and won. You would have loved the double/triple take the dealer did before deciding I won the pot.

It was several years ago and the first hand in a new game. But I remembered the guy. He bought in for the table max ($300) and I knew he wanted to create an image for himself early by betting big out of the gate. I normally start with $200, but pulled the extra out when I saw him.

I also remembered that he had a few very solid tells. So, when he bet and everyone else folded, I looked at him and decided he was FOS. He had Q3o, no connection.

No, he didn't shove, but I won about $200 from him.

What I really remember from the hand was the look on the dealer's face.

This is like watching an episode of It's Always Sunny where they mess with Charlie.

That’s a pretty sick hand history.

Yeah the dealers aren’t used to seeing sick ace high calls like that but glad you’re here bro. Had a feeling you were a solid TAG

If you’re the best player at the table it definitely makes sense to cover everyone

Thanks. My wife knows I play poker, but only wants to hear about the juicy wins or the fun stories. The rest, she doesn't understand or care about and I just felt like venting a little about the genius moron that cashed out $700 by playing bad and catching lucky.

Reminds me of the poker book I want to write: Play bad, Catch Lucky, Win Big!

I have never and will never make that claim. I'm better than most that I play with, but that's by design. I was a 2/5 reg for a while and found that there were routinely 4-5 players in the game that were better than me. It's a tough environment. Now I play 1/3 and there is seldom more than 1-2 players better. I actually win more money there than in the 2/5 - and it's easier.
