Different circumstance. The Browns are way too good. Right Miami?

I would say congratulations to the Browns but in reality I really want the entire franchise to get gout.

Watching y'all sweat bitcoin is better than owning it.

Any precious metals honks ITT can explain why gold is 1.8x platinum? I always remembered platinum being multiples of gold, not the other way around.

Gold is just more in demand driving its price higher. Gold is also a bit rarer.

Platinum is mostly used to make catalytic converters iirc.

There are no platinumbugs. The price of platinum is much more highly correlated with its value to jewelers and industrial users than with its imagined monetary value.

Also, it's a real PITA to work with, so people only use it when they really have to.

Bitcoin was under $4k less than a year ago.

$40k to $30k not a big deal

unless you’re overexposed or overleveraged

imo

I sent a couple BTC to binance intending to sell because p2p would be too hard to find.

Sent at low sat and my transactions haven’t confirmed for a few days.

So basically by trying to save myself 15-20$ in transfer fees I costed myself around 20k.

is it possible to buy bitcoin on margin? obv there are other ways to overleverage, but reading this comment just made me think of margin specifically.

Margin trading is a thing in crypto yeah.

Leverage is certainly a thing in the market. There are exchanges that offer 100x leverage and were partially responsible for the crash below $4000 in March 2020. Whales are gonna whale and manipulate the market which is why I would never touch leverage with bitcoin. Just buy and hold.

JAN 11: Bitcoin hit by $2.7 billion futures liquidation frenzy: What happens next?
Quote:
In the futures market, liquidations of positions occur because traders are borrowing additional capital to trade with larger positions. For example, exchanges in the Bitcoin futures market typically offer up to 100-times leverage. This allows traders to borrow 100 times their initial capital to trade BTC.

On Jan. 11, the Bitcoin market saw a massive long squeeze triggered by large sell orders on Coinbase. As whales or high-net-worth investors sold, it caused many long contracts to be liquidated in a matter of hours. The consecutive liquidations led to a domino effect, resulting in a steep sell-off and a 16% correction.

According to ByBt, more than $2.8 billion worth of leveraged crypto positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours. A majority of that capital was in Bitcoin and Ethereum futures markets, where most of the leveraged trading takes place. This represents one of the largest days of liquidation in the cryptocurrency market, potentially ever.

In the future it's quite likely that the vast majority of all communication will be disseminated through social media. Big Tech will choose who can speak and who can't and which ideas can be disseminated and which can't. Just look at where Big Tech's future growth/profits will come from and it's easy to see what direction that will go.

AI is still in it's infancy but in the future Big Tech will utilize AI to control people's behavior in order to help it's own bottom line. People think of this in terms of influencing consumer behavior but it will go far deeper than that.

As it stands right now Big Tech watches me and listens to me even when I sit here in my bedroom. I'm not concerned about it as I'm quite old and AI is still quite primitive. However, technology is advancing quickly and in the next hundred years big tech will be everywhere including in people's bodies. Big Tech will literally have billions of active guinea pigs for AI (which will be far more intelligent than any of us) to perform tests on to determine how to best influence people's behavior.
