Mr Spy,

I would check out bbqguys.com. lots of good info there. I ended up buying a Saber infrared grill which is made by Char-Broil. Surface temps up to 900° for searing steaks but lower the heat and you can cook bacon directly on the grates without burning it.

Can't go wrong with the Weber Genesis either. That is what I was going to get but my OCD kicked in and spent the next 2 weeks watching video reviews and decided on the Saber. Very happy.

AA < JJ
AA < QQ
AA < JJ
KK < AKo
KK < AKs

Solid -$20K in all-in EV just from those. Not even mentioning all the other times I get 2-4 outed on the river, or hit a "1-outer" that makes me lose more money, or fun run-outs in general like AA on an A82r flop losing to 98s on the river.

Poker hell is a real thing and I hope I get out of this black hole someday.
Yikes, gross.

Any thoughts on getting out of poker and doing something else? You don't post here much, but when you do, it doesn't seem like the poker lifestyle is making you incredibly happy (or even content)? I'm starting year 26 of my job, and while there are obvious drawbacks (I gotta show up day in and day out and be here, etc.), I've had very very few bad days, and 99% of days have been perfectly fine and a decent amount have even been... halfway enjoyable / fulfilling.

No. Just think it's bad lighting. Usually shoot for 130-135.

Maybe the lighting is always bad, but I don't think I've seen a steak from you yet that looked like 130-135...

Or maybe you're not using a digital thermometer?

Sorry to hear, SABR. I've been on a run like that too, but for way less money.
And now those suckahs have diamonds on the soles of their shoes.

That is some grate stakework Cowboy. Don't let the bubble gummers tell you anything.

- NY BIL has an Egg Smoker that he swears by. But he's in academia so he has nearly unlimited free time.

- While we're on the subject what's the SouthwestAirlines of smokers? The entry level low stress kind?

Oh wow, poker really is dead in 2020 if they are all waiting for AK/JJ+ to put all their money in badly. Where is all the gambol gambol?

Poker is rough, but showing up day in and day out...SHEESH!

Yeah I'd say the biggest drawback is having to show up. But after that it's not bad.

Something like the Brinkman barrel smokers. Either horizontal or vertical. I still use a horizontal one I got for a wedding present in 1994. Has lasted way longer than my marriage.

However if you have never used one, I wouldn't say they are low stress. I mean I love dicking around with the fire for 16 hours to make a brisket.

Low stress is going to be more high end like the Traeger pellet grills. Consists of putting on meat, insert meat thermometer, fill pellet chute, set desired grill temp and then forget about it until the app on your phone alerts you that it's done.

If they stick a meat probe up your ass and alert you when you are done, then I'd say yes.

You have to call ahead and pay extra for that.
