SPC is totally down for a meal in DC miami.

I just spoke to spc and she is starting her day. Had a good night rest and did good eating. She should be on the road by 8 central. She is very happy that she made the switch to night riding and is generally feeling ossum

She spoke to the bike shop and they dont open till noon so tonight will only be a 100 mile ride to norfolk where she will hole up and stay outta the sun. She once again got lucky b/c the trail starting at wisner (30 miles past norfolk) is super washboardy, sandy, and difficult/technical for the 100 miles to omaha and her cassette would definitely not survive that

here is the latest update for ultracycling mag

Gogogo, SPC. Not gonna lie, I'm likely to be a lot more productive at work with the dot not moving during the day.

The older I get, the less tolerant of lactose I become. Jack Daniel's is an excellent substitute, although I wouldn't recommend it to SPC right now.

Nice run. Shame you couldn’t bag for day 3.

I was following a few friends who were itm and it seems like they’ve increased the value of a min cash to 2x the buy in but then the payouts stayed at exactly 3k with no ladder for several hundred bust outs. Seems cray cray but obvs means that it must be very gambly and splashy post bubble bursting

Is spc going to have any issues with hotels trying to boot her at 11 or 12 when she is in the middle of sleeping? If she does, you might try looking at a 3rd party booker called CLC (Corporate Lodging Consultants). Their contract with the hotels insures that if you only check in for one day you get a full 24 hours in your room. It comes in really handy for my guys when they're moving around a lot and especially when they're working a night shift and checking in early mornings. Nothing worse than working all night, checking in to a hotel and having to leave at 11 after only a few hours of sleep. Then you can't check in to your next room sometimes until after 3.

thats ossum info. So far when spc tells the hotels she is in a cross country race they have been super accomodating and helpful. The night she broke down the woman running the hotel told spc she should have called her b/c she would have picked spc up.

SPC's summary of last night ride

GAWR 16+: Night Riding to Noirfolk
After a great day of sleeping in Stuart, I returned to the gas station to stock up for the night.

It was a mellow but somewhat unmotivated night of riding. I knew I needed to wait in Norfolk for the bike shop to open at noon, and that was only 100 miles away. With my current sleeping schedule, I couldn't think of any way to work it besides lounging around Norfolk waiting for the shop to open, then sleeping until evening.

I'm currently at Perkin's eating my first non-gas-station meal in over 24 hours. Then I'll pick up my preferred saddle, get my front tire back to tubeless, and get my cassette tightened properly, before bed.

Distance
105.52 mi
Elev Gain
75 ft
Time
9h 15m

Even though I didn't really have the cares, watching the Stanley Cup get presented never gets old for me.

Sucks she has to break up the down time like that. Glad she didn't crash and miss the shop's hours, which is prob what I would have done.

Yea nothing can be done about that. Spc knows that mechanical issues need to be resolved pronto and its just part of the game. She put her saddle from home on to go to the bike shop and could not believe how comfy it was and that she was able to put 400 miles on the POS replacement. She wore 2 big time padded bike shorts with the replacement saddle and was worried she was being a pussay (lol). Turns out the cassette was in fact toast and replaced it and is getting her tubeless set up back. I expect her to start throwing down som bigger mileage over the coming rides

Thank goodness she made it to the shop. Can't imagine the suck of a breakdown in the middle of nowhere like LS had.

Glad she made it to the shop. Poorly fitting saddles are no joke. When I first bought my road bike, the default saddle from Giant was a torture device. I had blisters/sore spots on my taint/sit bones before getting fitted. No shame in extra chamois padding, imo.
