Hand 1:

Hero has 110. This is a 1/2 game NL. I'm in the low jack. Villain to the right of me has been complaining all day about how loose and terrible all these players are. He doesn't seem to be playing wildly or with good aggression. At this point, I didn't have a great read on him but with later hands it was clear he was pretty weak-tightish and just not really good. I don't know how he won 1.5 k in vegas recently like he was bragging. Anyways, here's the action!

Blinds post. Villain raises to 12 in late position. Villain has hero covered

Hero has Js Jc in low jack.

There are a lot of loose players behind me and I don't like looking for sets with such a small stack. I subconsciously decided I'm going to play strong and hope my hand is best, fold out AQ+ and even TT below.

Hero raises to 40
Everyone folds around.
Villain hesitates and then calls the 40. I sort of feel like I'm dead meat but what can I do now. Maybe we can have discussion of quitting game when half stack is gone and challenges of short stack in cash game

Anyhow, flop is:
Ad Tc 9c

woo hoo... Villain checks. Hero? (70 left; pot has 80)

Just call JJ- pre and make life easier.

AP, either option is okay. Leaning towards check.

I thought for a second and then went all in. I figured he really just didn't have the ace and I might have some fold equity if I'm lucky!

It worked. He folded queens.

Can we draw any strategy nuggets from this hand maybe? I want to be more aggressive in general and take less-hedgy lines. Also want to simply just discipline to be playing tighter preflop. Even if I think I have a big edge. It just makes things easier. Sorry for tangent

It's funny how you can make QQ fold here when infact, you were raising for value all the way and blindly shoved the flop praying he has no A.

yeh it's interesting. even kings seems unlikely as that would likely 4bet preflop
