Bet/bet/bet or bet/check/bet depending on how good/bad you think V is will be the best value line.

I don't understand this view in this case. OP says V is "bad/aggro." I'm checking flop to see if Mr. B/A takes the bait, as he did in this case.

As played, I check turn, bet river.

If the V seems like a better player, I'd go with the bet/bet/bet line, but I think B/B/B looks a lot more like an ace than a more passive line to a bad player.

Also, this actually happened to me recently (where I flopped quad aces). Check/Call, Check/Call, Bet. Got paid off, when the V made aces full of kings (or queens) on the river. I don't think I get past the flop if I open.

(For what it's worth, after the guy left, everyone at the table said I should never have gotten paid. But I did.)

consider yourself lucky if you ever get paid off in this spot IMO. I would definitely let the villain try to catch up but I'm never checking the nuts back to him on the river.

I bet the river. My line was check/call, check/call, bet.

I think the question is are you more likely to get lucky slow playing early to allow V to catch up than employing a standard fast play (bet, bet , bet) line. For a weakfish/Aggro villain, I take the former.

Oh, and yes, I do consider myself lucky both with this hand and in life.

grunch:

Raise more preflop. I probably go $22-25 here out of the blinds with 4 limpers.

As played, I'm leading half pot on the flop. Most villains just assume you would slow play flopped quads, you will get at least one call from any pocket pair, and you may even get a call from KT-KQ.

When you play passively on the flop/turn on, then suddenly amp up the aggression later in the hand, it is going to scream quads to anyone paying attention, and you are unlikely to get action.

I'd bet 1/2 pot on flop ($35), about 2/3 pot on turn ($90ish), shove river.
