Playing top pair hands against super loose opponents Playing top pair hands against super loose opponents

I have a few trouble spots with hands like AK, AQ, AJ. When i flop top pair best kicker and someone donk bets into me either pot size or over pot. I never know if I should raise because they overvalue top pair hands with bad kickers, call, or even fold. These players, at 1-2 NL, will call a $10 raise with any two cards. sometimes they have two pair when they lead on like a k 7 2 board and sometimes they have top pair with like a 6 kicker.

I primarily hate getting all in with a one pair hand and these players who overbet do not allow me to see the river cheaply. I end up having to play for stacks or fold when I think I may still have the best hand.

Also, these raised pots are still multiway so many times there are still players left to act behind me.

Any suggestions to playing top pair top kicker against these donkeys?

Welcome to the forum, surfninjab.

This depends on the Vs. Very generally, if they are loose and passive, bet/bet/bet, and just ride the variance train on those times the hit their dumb kicker, but fold when they bet, because they will usually check/call with weak TP hands and if they are betting they have TPTK beat.

If they are loose and aggro, then just call them down (given a dry board) and let them bet their worse hand and live with it when they hit a redic two pair.

Also, if you are getting too many caller pre, up your raise size, imo.

Like Garick said you can try upping your raises, however that doesn't mean they won't start folding all of a sudden, nor do you want them to fold everything.

The question you have has less to do with how to play TP against bad players and more to do with how to hand read, extract value, and play overall good poker against your player pool. The question(s) is way too general, and is against the forum rules to ask questions on how to beat *insert opponent/game/etc here*. I suggest you work on improving your overall game and focus on the long term of the game. When you see the light you will understand how to approach the game.

Starting with the Best Of thread is a good start. It's stickied at the top.
