1/3 home game with deeeeep stacks. Hero is effective stack with $1.2k. My image is pretty TAG as I've been mostly card dead for the first 2 hours. Villian normally deals but has decided to play tonight. He's competent and aggressive and we probably recognize each other as mutual threats compared to the rest of the table (all LP stations).

Everything is standard to the turn...
Hero raises from lo-jack with 1010 to $15.
Button calls and V 3b from SB to $55
Hero calls. Button folds.
$120 to a flop of JJQ rainbow.
V leads for $60. Hero calls.

Pot $240

Turn is a 6

Boards JJQ6 rainbow.

Villian checks.

I would tend to check here planning on caring most rivers as we block hands like JT/KT/QT, etc. I don’t want to get raised as we have the best hand a lot here and if the opponent is behind they likely don’t have a ton of equity. It’s also hard to get value from worse hands if we think we’re value betting.

As played I felt the flop bet was his version of a range bet and the call was easy. When he checked the turn I decided that I felt that he was not in love with his hand or the situation. I decided on a small bet attempting to rep a Jack or air and would respond accordingly to his action.

Check down. That River may have just gave him the hand. I'm thinking he has AK here but AQ, AJ, QQ are also possibilities.

Blocking JT and KT very hard, and with essentially no showdown value, I’m turning my hand into a bluff, betting $350-$400 to fold out AK/AT/KK/KQ.

AK is snapping that off. AT probably too. Occasionally KK. People hate to fold it live. I think your bluff is called over half the time.

I think a bluff is called a lot here. Might be worth a shot and the only way to win, but I don't do it vs this guy.

How often does he 3bet from the blinds? How often does he 3bet you? Answers might mean a 4bet is in order, but probably not.

I ended up firing $300 on the river basically targeting KK and the bottom of his 3b range. He tanked for awhile and found a call with KK. This hand has been running through my head and I keep wondering if I had bet $500 or bombed all in he would've auto mucked. He hated the call but put the $ in anyway. Maybe not worth the effort for the roughly $200 profit but it would've been a statement hand that could've served me in many different ways down the line.
