Hand: https://www.youtube.com/live/RrCrVDo...k6vKzX4&t=2209

Game: 100/200 + 200 BBA, 300BB effective stacks

Preflop: Garrett (CO) opens KQss to 600, Michael (BTN) calls with 75hh

Flop ($1700): As6c2h
  • bet 600, call

Turn ($2900): Js
  • check, bet 2200, call

River ($7300): Jh
  • check, bet 3500, call (?!) and win with King-high

Would love to hear thoughts on the turn check and river call from Garrett.

Turn: He's checking back all his pairs quite often and an Ace is not folding so check seems good to keep the pot small.

River: Michael is the type of player who wouldn't bet an Ace here very often and would bet a J for a bigger size.

Garrett's really good at exploitative poker. He had the nut no pair and on the turn with a very strong draw and nut no-pair on the river. He only has to be good 25% of the time on the river to profit here, and I am guessing he can't think of a ton of hands that would take this line on flop and turn that have him beat. He probably had some history with this player as well that may give him some hints (very light flop floating, betting when checked to on the turn a lot, continuing with a river barrel for small sizing, all might be tells).

The problem here is, how do you know villain isn't bluffing with a small pocket pair, 6x, etc? Will you give him 54s, 43s? 54o, 43o? But once you give him things like 75s, then he must have 87s too, maybe 87o, maybe 75o, etc. A lot of assumptions have to go into this for it to make sense vs a low stakes player.
