5/10NL

Villain is young asian kid who buys in for 2k in $5 chips. That was pretty odd. I don't know if he came from 2/5. He has been sitting for about 30min and seems pretty laggy.

Villain is SB, Hero is CO. ~2k effective stacks.

Two bad passive players limp in, Hero limps CO with Kh8h, Villain completes small blind, bb checks option.

Flop JT2 ($50)

It checks around to Hero, Hero bets $30, Villain check-raises to $140, 3 folds, Hero calls.

Turn 8 ($330)

Villain insta tosses out 3 blacks and a green for $325. Hero calls.

River 3 ($980)

Villain insta pushes out 3 double-stacks of red for $600. Hero ???

****************

Firstly, maybe I shouldn't be limping this weak of a hand. Second, calling his check-raise with a non-nut draw is probably spewy. At the time, I was just thinking that I have the potential to win a big pot as this guy is gonna keep firing. I'm usually folding the turn, but I hit a pair. He full pots the turn, and now I'm thinking my 8 is probably good. The river blanks and he pushes out $600. My first reaction is snappity-snap call.

His Possible Value Hands:
J2, JT, T2, Q9, 22

Reasons to call:
-I don't think he's playing any 1 pair hand this strong.
-I give less weight to the junk 2-pair hands because of the speed and size of his bets
-Flush draws, and 2 different open-enders missed.
-He might play 89 like this.

Conclusion:

I know I'm awful. You don't have to tell me. Limped pot.

pretty tempted to just click call- if i thought he was completing sb <100% here then it becomes easier. there are probably enough random fds and p+fds here that youre good often enough. that being said, this is one of the worst hands to bluffcatch the river with, and is also probably one of the worst hands you get to the river with. this is prob one of those spots that i would call if i thought he was bad and actually think about it and probably fold if i thought he was good. his bet size/speed and buying in all $5 chips are evidence for him being bad.

If you're going to be calling $325 on the turn against this villain then you should just make it $300 on the flop to take back control of the action. That should (at the least) buy you a free card on the turn and help control the pot.

Your problem is you're only considering your exact hand strength on the current street and have no idea what you're going to do on streets where you don't make your hand (which is a ton of them).

So you're stuck facing huge bets with just a total bluff catcher. You literally only beat air here and 98, and you're leveling yourself into thinking being good against the total bottom of his range here is enough for a call.

It's much better to buy yourself control of the action on the flop and be able to fire on the river and get better hands (one pair type hands, pair + flush draw hands) to just fold.

Without more detail about why this V is a spewtard, and how he spews, it's pretty hard for me to wrap my head around how you played this hand.

PF is an easy raise or fold. A lot of people may like a raise here but I don't play suited Kx unconnected from any position, only Ax.
On the flop this seems like a trivial fold. Even if this V is showing down triple barrel bluffs with 4 high that don't make sense, I'm waiting to flop something better than K high before I ride the "call a crazy LAG down for 3 streets" variance train. Turn and river both seem like folds too. Villain could very well be semi-bluffing with Axs or an OESD, but he's sure playing it like a flopped set or top 2. And I'm inclined to give him credit for it without more details about his play. And like I said before, even if he is playing absolutely crazy I'd find a better spot to call down, especially OTF.
