$110 preflop

Villain's $965 on flop

Hero's $425 on flop

then its $540 to hero to call or fold?

Am I missing something here?

Yes I had the pot wrong. Sorry. Much closer.

^ Correct. We're getting a little less than 3:1 so we need a little more than 25% equity to call. That's just about exactly what we have against sets, plus we may have a BDFD (adds ~1.5% equity) and some equity from running kings or jacks against QT, so it's clearly a call. The flop 3bet is pretty silly though.

At flop, I considered a few possible scenarios and options that I have:

1) Is calling the flop raise a profitable line, especially when I am OOP? I considered the options I have after calling villain min raise
  • A - Check/Call Turn bet and then fold river if miss.
  • B - Fold turn bet

I do not like these options since I am OOP and I do not think this is profitable in the long run. (I am bad at calculating these EVs, so maybe someone with cardsrunnerEV may want to help here)

2) If the villain view me as an aggressive player, why did he raise my flop cbet with hands like two pair+? Why don't he allow me to keep betting and trap me? Especially with a fish in the small blind? The board isn't exactly wet. Could the villain be playing back at me after I won him 2 previous hand without going to showdown?

3) I consider the worst situation I could face: I could be facing two pair, sets. Against top pair hand, I have decent equity. In addition, I am not drawing dead.

Hence, given that I have a decent equity in this hand, I decided to reraise villain flop 3 bet.

Anyway, back to the hand,

I called the shove. I pretty much decided to call when I first made my flop reraise actually.

He showed J9 and I went on to win this hand with King high.

This was my thinking process during this hand. Feel free to comment on the line I took as well as the thinking process behind it.

Thanks!

If you really think he's bluffing that often it's better to let him fire again on the turn and c/shove. You'd prefer to put in the last bet with K high and maintain some FE. But there's not really enough info in the OP to say air/straight draws are a significant part of his range.
